This is very much a personal preference thing, I suggested to a mate (and LR master technician) last weekend that he should get a D3 or D4 rather than a L322 as his family car. He said that the Disco is by far the better car, but it is the white goods of the LR family, not something you get excited by and buy just because you want one (which the RRS clearly is).

Keep the RRS. Spending the money won't get you a better vehicle - unless you need the seven seats and bigger boot. You'll get better mpg, certainly, and the 8-speed gearbox is well regarded, but that's about it.

Try posting that over on Disco3/4 and watch the response... Disco owners are as passionate about their choice as many RRS owners are about theirs. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

Heh yes, I imagine they would call me a tart and a hairdresser I have a new appreciation of Discos after joining their forum, and it is undoubtably a more sensible choice, but the disco is a car you buy because you need one, the RRS is a car you buy because you want one. I am very tempted to pick up a D3 V8 for offroading thou |

Performance wise after a TDv8 you won't notice a lot of difference, handling wise D4 is an ocean liner in a storm compared to the TDv8 as the D4 doesn't have the trick extras in the suspension system that the RRS TDv8 has. Fuel consumption will be a little better on the SDv6 D4 though. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I've got a TDV6 3.0 RRS & a TDV6 2.7 Disco3 and other than the power of the newer engine and the interior refinement of the RRS, the main difference is the handling. The Disco feels like barge wallowing about compared to the stiffness and responsiveness of the RRS.

A friend has a MY14+ D4 and I have to say I'm impressed - I tried earlier versions but found them a bit wallowy after the Sport but not his

How many miles a year does the OP drive? His TDV8 is the same age as mine and has 100,000 miles less on the clock!

Had a D4 on a 64 plate and now have a TDV8 RRS on an 08 plate and I think the RRS is a far nicer machine to drive and live with everyday (other than the economy), didn't need the 7 seats and the handling on the RRS is much more fun.
