I would be surprised if it doesn't have it as standard as it has a big effect on emissions and fuel consumption in town. I was a confirmed anti Stop/Start and thought I would find it a pain, it's rare now for me to inhibit it and infuriating that in the last few days of very cold weather, even with a very warm engine it is automatically inhibited below 4c. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

The way the article reads, I got the impression it was fitted to the SDV8 but not to the Hybrid he had also tested. However, it was his suggestion that it was an 'option' on the SDV8 which piqued my interest. I presume you aren't aware of there being any option about having it fitted - indeed, I thought it was compulsory on new cars(?) |

I've looked on the LR configurator, at the E-Brochure and my paper brochure and Stop/Start isn't mentioned for any of the engine variants! You might have to contact your dealership to find out. I suspect the reason for the Hybrid not having it is because it should be operating in electric mode at those speeds anyway! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I did a 210 miles round trip yesterday evening. The external temperature ranged between -2°C and +2°C throughout and the engine began auto stopping as expected after it warmed up a few minutes from leaving home. The handbook suggests it doesn't work at "less than approximately 0°C" and mine was certainly working at as low as -2°: http://www.ownerinfo.landrover.com/documen...c/G1797816 (Second point in the second numbered list) Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top Gone: MY16 RRS2 3.0 SDV6 Autobiography Dynamic, Carpathian Grey & Santorini Black Sliding Pano/Ebony & Ivory 2 Tone Gone: MY13 RRS 3.0 SDV6 HSE Black Edition, Orkney Grey/Ivory Gone: MY09 RRS 2.7 TDV6 HSE, Santorini Black/Almond |

I drove a brand new (18 miles on clock) FFRR SDV8 Autobiography on a test drive, and stop-start didn't work at all until I'd driven 35 miles. It was reasonably warm weather, and I put the inhibition down to a low battery. (Not very impressive!). |

I'll do that, as I certainly wouldn't have it if I didn't have to. However, in my brochure (publication number LRML 5240/16), now I've come to look, it is shown as standard on all the non-hybrid variants (page 6. In the text about diesel engines on page 47 it is only mentioned under SDV6, although it's omission under SDV8 doesn't necessarily mean it isn't fitted. |

Better that than a flat battery of course. It does show that the garages don't necessarily make sure the cars people test are fully fettled which is ridiculous. A fully charged battery is a given, surely, but the vehicles probably get started, shunted around the yard, stopped, started again etc. so the battery never gets chance to charge. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

Stop/start is not an option on any new IC engined car - it is EU compulsory. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

As an owner of an old TDV8, I wonder whether the SDV8 is necessary in the current RRS. The V6 is near enough as quick, the lighter engine helps handling too. Fuel economy is much better. Only the V8 noise really appeals. At least back in the old days, the TDV8 and the TDV6 were very different in performance.

Yes, that's what I originally thought. The chap I quoted must have been confused. |

While not a Range Rover, the Jaguar XF I had with Stop-Start had a smaller second battery which when disconnected would disable the Stop-Start, with no otherwise negative effect. I'd be guessing that the Range Rovers will be exactly the same. Unfortunately I only found out in the last weeks of my ownership or I'd have disabled the damn thing on day one! 13MY Range Rover Sport Autobiography SDV6 - mine

Dennis, Unfortunately I do not believe the same is true of the L494. The second battery, I am assured, is not just to accommodate the Stop/Start system but to assist in power sharing and power management. Also the PMS would disable the normal start function if you do this! I am no electrical engineer, but this was advised to me by a very experienced engineer whose advice I sincerely trust.
