What is inside the headlamp led "oval"?

Just ordered a HSE after reading every review & forum post etc.

I cannot find what is inside the oval led ring on the front headlamps, does anyone know?

Thanks for the info.

I had read somewhere that main and dipped beams used a mechanical flap over the Xenon (which I assume is the 'projector' style lens). So then assumed the oval part was just styling or something to do with the adaptive or high beam assist.

No, those are housing the "corner" light spots, below 30 km/h when cornering those are working, if you have adaptive headlights!

Nothing inside those ovals at all apart from some reflective "headlamp jewellry" on mine, which has adaptive bi Xenons.

Dip/main beam is done via a mechanical shutter, cornering lamps are on the outer edge of the headlamp assembly. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

No, the cornering lights are in the oval! Wink
Take your car in front of a window and put the gear in "d", then have a look once you turn your steering wheel... Wink

There are two led's placed on top of the inner oval, invisible as you see only the reflectors.

They absolutely are not in that oval on my car, and yes I have double checked. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

Has two LEDs facing down, for corner lighting and also for Flashing, based on the size they looks like 1 or 3w LEDs.
Please see the phot below, LEDs are not very clear so I circled them in red.

I think Renaco's answer is correct, I have just found the description on the configurator and it says they are static bending lamps to light the kerbside area in tight bends (with the ADAPTIVE XENON HEADLIGHTS options).
Thanks for the help.

100% they are the cornering lights. I think you get them regardless of adaptive headlights. My adaptive headlights swivel as I turn gentle corners, but those oval cornering lights come on on sharp'ish bends as well. It's very noticeable.

A lot of other manufacturers seem to use the fog lights as the extra cornering lights. Personally I would have preferred even more full beam power rather than those.

Never let it be said that I don't admit when I am wrong. So:

I WAS WRONG!

I looked and I looked but I could not see those LEDs at the top of the Oval, but since so many of you were emphatic otherwise, I knew I had to investigate further, and I tried starting the car up and turning on the lights last night and turning the steering wheel, but of course as you open the door the lights go out! So I couldn't prove it one way or another last night.

And so it was this morning, as I pulled up at work for the first working day of 2017, that I looked into the reflection from a window I deliberately parked facing, and Voilá! The static corning lights are indeed inside that oval.

You guys were right. Apologies. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

Same. But also find they come on when passing very close to an object. When I drive out of my driveway I pass very close to a brick wall and I find the right side lamp turns on and lights up the wall then turns off when passed.

I believe that only cars with adaptive xenon headlights have these little led cornering lights fitted. My car certainly has not got them fitted and I do not have adaptive headlights. So if you have adaptive headlights you have them, if not stop looking., they are not there.

Speaking to LR today I was informed that the oval shape with forms part of the DRL is a Land Rover signature light ( same as Audi have one that is easily recognisable), so that a LR product can easily be spotted on the road. Perhaps this is for motorists who cannot see such a big chunk of metal travelling on the highway.

Had 4 upgrades on the car today, including one that required both keys to be with the car. 2015 Range Rover Sport Autobiography Dynamic SDV6
