United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey
TPMS

Hi all. I need to replace tyres on my 20" alloys (early my2012) and was thinking to add TPMS at the same time. Is there an easy way to retro fit the RRS TPMS? What's the easiest way to check if it's already fitted and if not, Can the system be purchased as a kit? -----------------------------------------------

There are 100's of aftermarket kits, all can be retro fitted, just depends how much your willing to spend and what sort of kit you want, I.e standalone monitor, normally requires hard wiring in, aux socket adapters with tiny LCD displays just needs plugging in to lighter socket, or App based systems which connect to your smart phone via Bluetooth.

s for searching out your own system, couldn't you just phone a dealer and give them your details and they can tell you.

I had this kit installed in my Subaru Forester sti

Thanks Dan
I have looked at the steel mate 85 system but so far had two units that would not Bluetooth pair with my iPhone. Off to see steelmate U.K. Tomorrow to see if there is a fix but wary of a system that is having setup issues even before i fit the valve sensors to the wheels. Thought I'd just ask if the Range Rover system can be enabled as a. Enter option. I try to avoid the steelers as walking through their door seems to incur a charge before you even speak. You should be able to fit the Land Rover TPMS module since the wiring is probably already there and then enable it by reconfiguring the CCF.

Obviously will also need the wheel sensors. Surely nicer than after aftermarket kit? 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Thanks Paddi.
What should I look for to indicate the wiring is in place? Didn't the LR system have modules by each wheel?

Does anyone have any details on what the LR system provides. Is it just puncture warning or can it display pressures, tempretures etc for each wheel. -----------------------------------------------

Well I needed to have a look in the overhead console today for a different reason and there was no sign of unused wiring for a TPMS module but your model year may be different?

I think there are units called 'initiators' in the wheel arches on a TPMS equipped car but non-equipped cars just have the wiring and connectors present because every now and again that comes up as a question when someone notices the connector and wonders what it is for.

There is also an extra switch on the dash next to the DSC switch. For a description of what TPMS tells you and what options it has see your owner's handbook. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Don't bother trying to retro-fit the factory system it's not worth the effort or cost as it's pretty usless. I have it as a factory option on a MY13 car and all it does is flash a Amber Warning if the tyre drops to around 20-25 psi. thats it, no pressure reading or ànything else.

Unless it is possible to fit a RRS 2 system which I believe is far superior.

Just buy a good after market kit.

Cheers
Col

Thanks all for the help and advice. Bow down
I will continue to see if steelmate can help me get their system to pair up with my iPhones. I like their system as the aux plug in module fits perfectly and discreetly under the cover in the centre console. It gives audible as well as visual indication of any issue and with the iPhone connected shows actual pressures and temperatures of each wheel. If only it would pair up. -----------------------------------------------
