Mega flush by Geoff.

Had Geoff come round today to carry out a Mega flush.

I could tell there was a huge improvement with the car just by driving it up my road after it was done.

If anybody is thinking of having it done, I would without a doubt recommend having it done by Geoff. He talked me through the whole process and it was clear he knew exactly what he was talking about.

He even changed my Gear Oils whilst he was here.

Cheers Geoff, Top bloke Thumbs Up

Probably best you contact him direct to discuss prices, location etc.

If you search for geoff. with a full stop and send him a PM, that's what I did.

Chris Thumbs Up

OK, a lot of missing info... You say Geoff did this for you but you provide no info...

By his and your definition, what is a "mega" flush?
Exactly what did he do?
What's his website if he even has one.

Contact info?

You can see how frustrating this can be for those who read and take interest in having the same work done.

Well you could do what I did when I recently bought my Sport.......... Do your homework then contact the the people that are well recommended on this site and on the sister sites.

Geoff is well known on here and the Disco3 site that's why I choose him to carry out the work.

I'm just providing feedback for a good service received. Like I said previously, I don't know areas covered etc, so it's best to contact him direct.

If people are asking how much, and areas etc, they already know what's involved.........

Thanks for your feedback Thumbs Up

Well I suppose I could, yes, valid point but going on just Geoff, which I did, brought up very little in the search so no mention of price, work done or contact info. Which brings me back to my point....

So how much did it cost you?
What was done?

To cut a long story short,, a mega flush is a means of changing the Gearbox oil. If the oil is changed just by normal methods,, taking out the plug and letting it drain, not all of the oil actually drains out. A mega flush uses a special machine,,, bit like a dialysis machine, it removes all of the old oil and replaces it with new. Most people have it done as per the Gearbox manufacturers recommendation,, at 75k miles or thereabouts. In the UK prices range from 250 - 300 pounds. The Gearbox is normally reset at the same time so that it basically learns a new set of changes depending on your driving style. 2010 RRS, TDV8

ZF suggest a flush 50-75k or sooner with arduous use, and I can't emphasise enough how important it to get the fluid changed in a timely manner. I second the recommendation for Geoff - he's based in Kent but is mobile and often gets about on flushing trips. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Thanks Gogsy,

Much appreciated. I'm across the pond so I was wondering what you guys meant by a "mega" flush. Now I know. I just sent the Service manager at JLR in Ottawa a text to see what his price might be for such a job... I'm approaching 90,000kms and although people are saying it's not necessary right now, I'd like to do it as a preventative measure to avoid any issues.

Cheers.

P.S. It's finally warming up here. reached 22 degrees yesterday for the first time. How you guys doing over there?

Shocked

Canrover,, the thing to keep in mind is this process is carried out using a Winns transverse flushing machine,, not a lot of dealers in the UK have them as they are quite hard to get hold of and are not cheap. That is why a lot of dealers simply drop the oil a couple of times to get as much oil out as possible. Have a look on U tube for a one in action and make sure that is the method they use.

Ps,, is that 22 deg C or F.? 2010 RRS, TDV8

Thanks Gogsy,

I did some hunting around and I don;t think my dealership has one in Ottawa but either way I'll do some of the fluid changes... weather or not it's time doesn;t matter to me. I'd rather do it too soon than too late.

22 degrees Celcius.

Yes, that looks very similar to machine that Geoff has. His machine is made by Wynns.
