Playing video files from USB stick

Has anyone managed to play video from a USB stick and if so which format works? I don't seem to be having much luck in getting it to work. I have a 2012 RRS with the 2013 entertainment system.

If it's not possible to play video from USB, can you put video files (MP4s etc) onto a DVD and play them from there? http://www.weephillie.com

It finds the file then tries to play it but then comes up with 'device error'. Any ideas? http://www.weephillie.com

I take it you have generated the Registration Code and gone to the DivX website and Registered it.

Unless you do I don't think it will play.

Go to Home Menu - Audio Video - TV/My Video - Settings - VOD and it will Display Eight Digit Code.

Go to vod.divx.com and Register Code. It will then give Instructions etc. If I remember right you then Download a small file to a Memory Stick which you then Upload to the Head Unit via the Usb Port then off you go.

Thanks Col,

I've registered and then downloaded the video. As instructed I played the video. It then said my device was registered to play any V.O.D. DivX movies I downloaded. Unfortunately, though it recognises my converted MP4 to DivX files, it will not play them. http://www.weephillie.com

What size Memory Stick are you using I think 32GB is the max size it will read. I think it needs to be formatted in FAT 32 not NTFS as well.

Only a Thought.

As Col says I had to do just that to play videos and Div X films via my USB stick. But my DVD films played straight off. Whistle
It's a nuisance having to register etc, but it does make things work. Smile John

Well I'm sort of getting there now. I have managed to get them to play from the USB but cannot seem to get HD even at 720p. When I convert to DivX on the HD setting it doesn't play the file. It however plays when converted at a lesser quality. Is this normal? http://www.weephillie.com

Thanks guys for your help. The quality the movies are playing at is quite sufficient and I'm happy with that. It's taken the best part of the day to sort out but we seem to be there now.

Thanks again! http://www.weephillie.com
