I have no personal involvement with any of the warranty companies but last year I had to help a family member who had understood that the warranty provider allowed repairs to be done anywhere without reference to the warranty company. Unfortunately for the warranty company the "brochure/ flier" mentioned the convenience of getting your local garage to carry out the repairs but when the policy document arrived and I went through the small print it was stated that not only were three estimates for repairs required but that the final quote (note NOT an estimate) had also to be submitted to the warranty company for approval before any work could be carried out. Needless to say I advised the family member to request their premium be repaid as the terms were unreasonable. Fortunately no claim was necessary anyway as the car had not yet been purchased but was in the final stages of purchase. The family member was then left waiting 4 months to get her premium returned and had to sign a non-disclosure note before the money was refunded to her bank account. This was one of the big providers............ And the dealership was also part of the Arnold Clark empire.

A lot of warranty claims are also dependant upon careful wording of said claims |
