United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Zermatt Silver

I've just been into the dealers (to see Bill).

I'll be getting the 2007 spec, but I'll have to pay full price for the factory tints and towpack (I can then take the towpack off my car and sell it privately).

I'm having to pay just over £5k towards the swap (including the number plate), which takes into account the 2007 model price increase, and the fact that I've been using my vehicle for 5 months (delivery in October). Mind you, the vehicle will be returned to them with a full set of brand new wheels and tyres, 'cos I swapped them for Stormers when I first got the car.

Apparently, they're "throwing in" the Integrated TV function, which is a £500 option (it picks up analogue and digital telly, I'm informed).

So, the wait begins (again!)......................... RRS 4.2 S/C. Zermatt. Tints. Stormers. 150+ paint defects, wonkey bonnet, scratches, detached doorseal. suspension faults. To sum it up, a 60k pile of cr4p!

apart from the clear inconvenience of it all, that doesn't seem such a bad deal really

Are you happy? I'm not sure I would be - 5K is a good 10% more for a car you should already have, and would have if LR hadn't been lazy! LR seem to be the winners here. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

I like the sound of the 07 spec -but ....................

Yes you have had a car ....... but it has been in and out of the dealership & is not up to scratch - as they are not able to replace your car with an exact match due to model year change - this should be their loss/problem - your car clearly needs replacing [ they have addmitted this much ] but should you really pay £5k for the privelage. Lets face it you would have been very happy if your car had been replaced without the delayed fuss and polava .......months ago!

You have had to knowingly drive round in a car you have paid for that is not by any means perfect!!

Come on LR - you should be bending over backwards to say "sorry" & for the upset/inconvenience caused we are goint to put you into an exact match but an 07 model = RESULT = 1 happy & satisfied customer.

The positives of owning a (hopefully perfect, this time) MY2007 car outweigh the negatives of paying another £5k.

In an ideal world (in my mind), LR should do what Martin suggests, but it seems like this is the best they will do for me this time, so I'm reasonably happy..........JUST SO LONG AS THIS ONE'S PERFECT!!!!!!!!! RRS 4.2 S/C. Zermatt. Tints. Stormers. 150+ paint defects, wonkey bonnet, scratches, detached doorseal. suspension faults. To sum it up, a 60k pile of cr4p!

£5K sounds a lot to me too. It should really go on when you first told them of the problems on the car. I paid £600 towards my replacement D3 after 6 months!
Sounds like you are virtually just getting a trade in price. Shocked
They said my D3 was worth nearly £8K less than list price (£4K less than cost price) and that LR would pay all but the £600.

Bob - sorry but I really think you are being hard done by here. 2K maybe but 5k and the other costs for extras, inconvenience etc. 5k to LR is peanuts to keep a customer happy but I just don't think it's a great deal for you. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

After the honey-moon period (a week!), I've started to notice the problems.

1. Really cr4p paintwork. A "fisheye" on the bonnet (caused by a microscopic particle of grease, I believe), and a pimple in the middle of the roof (but you need to stand on ladders to see it). Inside the drivers door are bubbles in the laquer, runs in the laquer and a blister on the edge of the door where it goes into the black plastic "B pillar" trim. The bottom of the door reveals all have little pimples in the paint (between 5 and 20 each door), and rough paint (especially the drivers door reveal). In full sunshine, the rear edge of the spoiler looks like it's been painted with a brush.

Bobs_buggy, only just saw this thread.
I have rejected my Sport for the same reason above, though mine is not as bad as your. I have those particle specks over most of the car, scratch on rear spoiler and some touch up paint used by the drivers door lock where they clearly damaged it during the build!
My rejection saga is still goes on 8 months after picking it up. My dealer tells me he is taking 2 rejection routes 1. pure rejection 2. rejection under warranty ....though whats the difference?
Don't do a lot of mileage and are nearly hitting 5k (3k of which done going to Italy and back).
Apparantly a LR guy is coming over soon to look at the car.
One thing I will not accept is having to pay any difference to get my replacement and neither should you! My dealer has accepted my replacement claim but wanted LR to cover their loss in replacing the car. Therefore LR should be the one to suffer a loss. Especially with the problems you have had. Clearly they are making regular Lemons and need to improve their production quality.
In the end, if I get a new car after a years driving FOC, then good for me, serves LR right for not getting the car right in the first place. Rob

I've also only just revisited this thread... does seem LR have come out on top here. How are they expected to realise the error of their ways and increase production accuracy when they can "get away" with things like this. If you're happy with the outcome, Bob, then I guess that's fait accompli in your eyes but LR really should have done more. Confused

I've sent another letter to Land Rover, giving them an update, and my feelings on having to pay more money. I'm hoping that they will see the error of their ways and reduce the amount of contribution I'm currently being expected to pay. It does seem a bit of an insult to pay for optional extras twice! RRS 4.2 S/C. Zermatt. Tints. Stormers. 150+ paint defects, wonkey bonnet, scratches, detached doorseal. suspension faults. One of my customers got a new discovery and asked me to treat the paintwork but when i arrived and saw the paintwork Shocked
It was covered in fisheyes everywhere i was amazed. He took it back to the dealers and they tried to flat it and polish it,i went back and told him to reject it for if i did anything to it i would be liable for it.So they swapped it for another one ,i went to the dealers to inspect the new one it was 100% better but not perfect by far.Im now treating the range rovers paintwork at the dealers everyweek for the standard of detailing is crap, the used blck ones im doing are looking better than the new ones in the showroom Laughing

By the way im new on ere who is site Admin?
