Steering Vibration

Hi All!
I have owned a 2009 facelift RRS for nearly 1 month and had from the start a vibration from the steering. I have had the wheels balanced and the front bushes checked. It has been back to a Land Rover specialist who discovered a warped rear disc and to my dismay he replaced only the faulty disc and not the pair, as I am sure is the norm? The vibration is just the same and more noticeable over 50mph. The vibration is worse also then i brake and is now pulling slightly to the nearside. I think the front discs and pads need changing but the specialist insists not and cant see anything wrong. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

Have you had a 4 wheel alignment done?

I've read about vibration problems happening when water has got inside peoples tyres and caused an imbalance... don't think that would cause a pull under braking though... Also I'm no expert but I've always believed replacing a single disc was a big no-no?

Thanks Zaphod!
I thought the same and I will be reluctant to use the Specialist in Birkenhead in the future. I think I will replace the front discs and pads and see if that makes any difference.

Sounds odd, but may be water in tyres. Mine had exactly the same after I bought it and if it was standing there for a while it could do this. Mine was exactly the same, but only started at 70 nothing lower....worth a check

Edit - sorry, should have read above post first but worth a check anyway.... 2010 TDV8

Do you feel pulsing through the brake pedal under hard braking ? When he replaced rear disc - did he do pads as well ? If other disc was not worn or warped - maybe ok not to replace. I'm not sure how you can tell just by looking that front discs are ok - but I would get them measured for run out before replacing - so you know if there was an issue -brake shop should have a tool to do this. I assume front wheel bearings and track/tie rod ends check out ok ?

Get this car on a ramp and arms bushes etc inspected - any garage can do it or an MOT place will do it and be more clued up what to look for

Also check brake disc retaining bolts if these cars have them - this was an issue I could not solve on one of my cars till I refused to believe the bolts were of no use (many mechanics and people online said they were just for manufacturing line ease of build)

Also if you have time get your dirty clothes on jack the car front end up and have a look and tug and pull on the wheels / arms. Probably best to pay a garage £10-£20 to have a good look on a ramp to be fair

It is not a practice to replace only one rotor, but i don't think Your vibration is one new/old rotor. We need more info to trouble shot. What cause the steering vibration...Is it vibrate when brake is apply...did the mechanics replace the pad along with the rear rotor. In most cases, vibration are caused by wrap rotors, bad wheel balance, or bad suspensions. All these problems can be touble shoot by any mechanics.
