United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Sumatra Black

DaveW wrote:
To summarise - sorry if it's a kind of bullet point list but the majority is from our press launch last year.

Larger air intakes in front bumper - increases airflow to charge air coolers

Two-stage active exhaust - with electronically controlled valves

Enhanced over-run exhaust characteristic

Larger pipes - enhances exhaust flow

Eight speed ZF auto transmission - shift times reduced by 50%

All-terrain capability not compromised - same as the standard car

Torque vectoring by braking - same as F-type sports car

Revised rear differential calibration - balances torque between rear wheels

Specially engineered suspension including specifically calibrated software and 20% stiffer rear bushes for optimum handling and traction

Active Roll Control system specially tuned

Uprated brakes for high speed stopping ability (increased cooling and higher specification fluid)

22-inch wheels with performance-oriented tyres available as an option

Specially tuned steering and throttle response

Bespoke interior with unique SVR sports seats

Stealth lighting pack front and rear (de-chromed surrounds)

Larger rear spoiler to reduce lift at speed with wider integrated brake light.

Carbon fibre inlays optional

Carbon engine cover optional

Basically we engineered it to try and get as close as possible to the ride quality of the standard car (which we think we did) and then enhanced the handling characteristics and high lateral inputs. We'd like to think we did pretty well.....

Bow down Bow down

Have another

And the Symposer (or did that not make it to production? To be honest, I can't tell as the exhaust is so loud!).

I hadn't forgotten the extra power and torque James, the question was what was different other than engine tunes and trim 😄. And yes Phil, the symposer remains but is also there for the core car, albeit a minor tune away.

It a tube from the engine into the front of the cabin that above a certain RPM (4500 IIRC) opens to feed induction noise into the cabin.

It's good to be reminded that the SVR has real engineering substance to it - it's much more than a mid-life marketing exercise and options list/parts bin raid.

One other unique is Estoril Blue, available only on the SVR. It would be interesting to know what proportion of SVRs are blue, the majority I would think. Of the other colours, I've only ever seen a black one on the road.

Booked mine in for its first service yesterday but it was clear the bubblehead on the booking line has been spending too much time on Facebook rather than learning the product line she is dealing with. "SV-What?" "That's a diesel, right?" Err, no sweetie.

So, oil service, door lock recall - requires them to have both keys, and only warranty work is a piece of ill-fitting trim to the right of the accelerator pedal. Would probably be easy to remove and re-fit but I'll let them do it. Mark

SVR in Estoril Blue Thumbs Up

Im on about 5000 miles and still totally in love with it.

I have taken 2 of the LR Sales guys out for a drive this week, My dealer has only sold 5. They have a grey SVR in the compound awaiting collection by an Aston Villa Player, so im my area its still are rare car to see. It was getting plenty of attention from customers when it was parked outside the showroom. The Estoril paint makes it stand out, It was 100% the right colour choice for me.

Car wise, its behaving perfectly, Just being careful not to lose my license! 2012 Evoque
2014 Sport Autobiography
2015 SVR for the fun stuff
2016 Evoque SI4 Dynamic Lux for the daily drive
2016 Defender 90
2018 SVR
