We all know your ideal spec RRSTDV8 would be a 1970's Defender interior in an RRS body |

I haven't (yet) owned an L405 FFRR but I have owned an early 2003 TD SE and a 2010 TDv8. 1st L322 was before my first RRS and the 2010 Vogue was one of the last 3.6 TDv8's. After 3 years in what up to then was the best all round car I have ever owned, my TDv8 RRS, the FFRR with the same motor was a beautifully built car but after the TDv8 RRS the brakes were terrible! The last L405 I drove was a beautifully built car, very smooth and quiet BUT even the 5.0lt S/C was not as reassuring to drive as my current RRS, it leaned a lot more in spirited driving. TBH if you don't need the acres of interior space I would prefer to spend my dosh on another 3.0lt HSE Dynamic than on the TDv6 Vogue FFRR L405. The seats in the RRS are way more comfortable and hug my plutoctrat sized figure better too.................. in the FFRR I felt more like I was sittng on it rather then in it 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

No BC, I like luxury but I'm not a fan of driving around with stuff that never gets used. I'd like a simple list of luxury bits rather than a novel of an options list.

I think all of us would agree with your sentiment. Get the basics consistently right; up reliability and no other manufacturer will touch them. Current Merc GLE 3.5d 2016 model, 2011 RRS HSE standard Previous 2012 FL2 liked but boot too small Previous to LR's 3 x Merc E320 estates - fantastic load carriers and long distance cruisers, ultra reliable. Only changed as needed a 4x4 high tow vehicle. Did have a 1955 early LR drop down windscreen and fuel tank under the drivers seat; again very reliable and super rugged. |

But how often do you actually need front fogs? Most of the time front fogs aren't that effective anyway. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |
