United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

I don't understand the need for automatic lights or wipers. Surely the driver should decide if they can see and operate the control as required. I never use the auto wiper function - I want a variable intermittent that I can control not a wiper that varies its speed according to some bizarre algorithm. I never use auto lights either; I turn the lights on when my eyes tell me I need them to see or be seen.

I do find PDC useful but can manage without it. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

We all know your ideal spec RRSTDV8 would be a 1970's Defender interior in an RRS body Laughing

For me, toys are a nice luxury and if I was to pay that much for a car, I'd love a few gadgets, 'needed' or not. The FFRR we had , did have the heated massaging seats, which were VERY nice...

...that said, Ady did tell me that they were not as good as the regular 'massage' he gets in town from the Thai place Whistle Shocked ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i
MERCEDES GL350 - Metallic Navy Blue w/Grey interior

GOING: BMW F31 335D MSport+ xDrive Touring
GONE: Land Rover Discovery 4 HSE - Stornaway Grey w/Black Interior (wish we'd kept it Banging Head )

I haven't (yet) owned an L405 FFRR but I have owned an early 2003 TD SE and a 2010 TDv8. 1st L322 was before my first RRS and the 2010 Vogue was one of the last 3.6 TDv8's. After 3 years in what up to then was the best all round car I have ever owned, my TDv8 RRS, the FFRR with the same motor was a beautifully built car but after the TDv8 RRS the brakes were terrible! The last L405 I drove was a beautifully built car, very smooth and quiet BUT even the 5.0lt S/C was not as reassuring to drive as my current RRS, it leaned a lot more in spirited driving. TBH if you don't need the acres of interior space I would prefer to spend my dosh on another 3.0lt HSE Dynamic than on the TDv6 Vogue FFRR L405. The seats in the RRS are way more comfortable and hug my plutoctrat sized figure better too.................. in the FFRR I felt more like I was sittng on it rather then in it 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

No BC, I like luxury but I'm not a fan of driving around with stuff that never gets used. I'd like a simple list of luxury bits rather than a novel of an options list.

What I'd really like is for LR to stop making pointless mobile phone apps and sort out their base product and their dealers! "Get the basics right" is a maxim they need to remember... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I think all of us would agree with your sentiment. Get the basics consistently right; up reliability and no other manufacturer will touch them. Current Merc GLE 3.5d 2016 model, 2011 RRS HSE standard
Previous 2012 FL2 liked but boot too small
Previous to LR's 3 x Merc E320 estates - fantastic load carriers and long distance cruisers, ultra reliable. Only changed as needed a 4x4 high tow vehicle. Did have a 1955 early LR drop down windscreen and fuel tank under the drivers seat; again very reliable and super rugged.

But how often do you actually need front fogs? Most of the time front fogs aren't that effective anyway. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
