No only 2008MY onwards have it, if the car has the phone cradle fitting under the centre cubby box lid then 99% certain that it will not have a motorised steering column. The change came in at the change from 2007MY to 2008MY. I took a 2007MY car with a healthy discount after 2008MY had been launched because it was phisically at the dealership and I felt that as I am the only person that drove the car I could manage with a manual adjustment for the steering column! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Thanks for the info. I have just put a deposit against a 2007 / 57 plate tdv8 sport. 1 owner full Lrdh and only 48k on the clock.
I suppose the manual column is something less to go wrong.
Cheers.
Phil.

My TDV8 is a 08MY 57-plate and doesn't have the motorised column. As you say, one less thing to go wrong... Thumbs Up

Oh, if you didn't already know, the VIN will tell you if it's a 07MY or 08MY. Look for the number before the last A:
E.g. SALLSAA237A123456 for 07MY, SALLSAA238A123456 for 08MY TDV8
(SAL = Land Rover, LS = Range Rover Sport, AA = Standard 4 door body type, 2 = TDV8, 3 = RHD, 7 or 8 for the MY, A123456 is unique serial number)

BTW, other engine codes are: 1=2.7 TDV6, 3=4.2 SC petrol, 5=4.4 V8 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

No, the tow pack was optional on all RRS's although a lot of cars ordered for dealer stock were ordered with it. The slot for the demountable towhook was there on all cars but the electrics weren't and if you specced them then the dealer only needed to connect them. If the two hook is a permanent mount one then it is possible that it was a factory/dealer fitted one but more likely to be an aftermarket one. There were several versions of electrics available too, for example on both my 2005 and 2007MY RRS's I had the single plug electrics as I only towed a trailer and didn't need caravan electrics. What LR charges for a tow kit now is ludicrous, my current RRS was a dealers stock order that I took before it was built but I couldn't change any spec as I bought it 2 days before it was built. Iasked about fitting the electrically deployed tow hook and through the dealer itwas going to be more than £2000................ so I have done without and us e my Defender to haul my trailer instead.
BTW if your car has the removable tow hook then check that it has had the recent recall on them carried out. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

The RRS2 tow pack requires a replacement subframe at the rear which, on LR's parts prices, will always be expensive. Add in a dealer's £100++/hour charges and I can see why it would be expensive to fit.

No doubt the aftermarket will make one available at a significant saving on LR's prices. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Are the dedicated towing electric sockets plug in and play or do they need configuring to the vehicle.

On a 57 plate, they will work without enablement. Thumbs Up

(NB: The prevention of automatic height changes in special programs etc. needs enablement to apply, but that's not really important.) Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK
