20" vs 19"

Hi all,

After not being particularly impressed with the 20" wheels that the car came with (love the look of them), I picked up a set of 19's shod with nearly new Pirelli M+S tyres. Not a massive difference, but the ride is now slightly more forgiving and the car feels more like what I expected a Range Rover to be. Ok, so they're not quite as sexy as the 20's, but pretty sure I'll be keeping them on long term now, just a change of tyre involved when the weather gets milder next year...
Would be interested to know if anyone else have similar experiences- in either direction?

Yes, the ride was clearly better on 19" compared to 20". Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

I sold my 20s and have been running 19s for four years. Ride's better, looks better too especially with /55 side walls. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Any issues with insurance etc running the 55 profile, as they're not in the book as a standard size?
I know the speedo will under read a little too...

I prefer 19's for ride quality and grip in the soft. Looks are similar to 20's and I don't go in for that 22" malarkey at all. There I go again, showing my age. Rolling Eyes

I think it looks good on both....but....the 20s do set it off a bit better. I have 20s on mine and go everywhere in sport and dynamic (so it's firm), but I seem to have gotten used to it and now don't like the softer ride of comfort. hi guys, First post on this forum! and cannot get enough of fix reading it every day!
only had the sport for 2 months now, previous owner has put 22's with a 295/30 xl profile. ride is hard but ok, but I want to do some towing of my boat. (twin axle 1800kg) would you guys think this is doable? or am I going to do some damage. should I get some 20's. sorry may be slightly off topic.

Personally I'd chuck the 22's in the nearest river, and have it shod with 19's! Wink Even though I prefer the look of the 20's on mine over the 19's, I bought the RRS more for comfort and practicality than bling factor. Over rough terrain (including a lot of our A roads), you're going to have to be very careful running 22's! At least there's a good market for them, so shouldn't cost you anything if you do decide to swap...

Poland 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Buckingham Blue

I personally believe the 20" with oversized 275/45 tyres are a good compromise between looks and ride comfort. That said, I am looking to replace my winter 20's with 19" set for next winter season, since a 255/55R20 does not work as a winter tyre for me, for the white stuff I prefer much more sidewall. Summer set is 20", though! Regards etc.,
