Not to sure but wouldn't think to advisable to be jacking on the driveshaft. Cheers Col |

Best bet is a 3T trolley jack on a chassis member or a 2T trolley jack on a wish bone (but not the drive shaft)

I've heard mention of leaving the boot open while jacking to avoid the suspension resetting itself as you hack. I did although one wheel did lower itself during the process |

The best way to stop the suspension altering while it's in the air is to use axles stands |

This is a (sort of) myth that's developed from a slight misunderstanding. Opening a door (not the taligate though) will prevent the ride height change, however, it does not stop the suspension self-levelling. ![]() 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 Auto HSE Zambezi Silver ![]() |

I think some of that may backdate to the day's of the P38 at least, because I'm sure it said in the Drivers Handbook to open the tailgate to stop suspension lowering. Cheers Col |

I've just been looking at bottle jacks and, unless I'm mistaken, it doesn't look as if they would lift anything like high enough. Most seem to have a maximum height of around 350-400mm and give a lift of just 150mm or so. Does a bottle jack really work? |

I just got one for a freind from a Merc Sprinter, small enough and two stage so should do the job and fit in the boot fine. Lot of Landcruisers now sold

Yep; being telescopic, there's more than enough height and the screw can be extended to reach the chassis before you've even started jacking. |
