Just a quick note, my Sept 12 RRS HSE Luxury has a backlit stop start button. The backlight is red. 2015 Range Rover Sport Autobiography Dynamic SDV6

Slightly confused here if you have a Sept 2012 car it should already have a illuminated in Red stop/start button, also you say it's a TDV8 but I thought they dropped the TDV8 engine in 2010/11.

No! Mine is an SDV6 not a TDV6 and it does not have an illuminated stop/start button. I am however mistaken about the ref date. Mine is Jun '12

Confirm what Col said, in that my RRS had a factory fitted red back light to the stop/start button. 2015 Range Rover Sport Autobiography Dynamic SDV6

I replaced my Stop/Start Button recently due to the lettering being worn, and replaced it with LR014015 and can assure you when the lights are turned on the lettering is illuminated Red. The Switch it's self is not Red but Black and Noble.

Thanks for that clarification! That seems to nail it so far as illumination is concerned.

I am not a Auto Electrician but it also act's as the Ignition Switch should you not want to start the car, so the Switch has three function, Ignition, Start and Stop which I assume are somehow controlled by a ECU on the car so I don't think it will be as simple as splicing a few wires.
