Does anyone know what video format is recognised by the system? Does it have to be .avi or will mp4v work?

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Over on BabyRR.com there were so many complaints about USB's not playing that we ran a user survey and found that if you used a memory stick or portable hard drive bigger than 32mbs the car's system took forever to read all the files and often didn't recognise the drive was even plugged in just like above. The car's system was also not happy with many makes of memorystick or portable drive................. maybe time to start a similar thread here with people listing the best makes and capacity/size of memory sticks that will work without a problem. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Has anyone managed to get video stored on a USB stick to work or indeed read the manual? I'm only guessing that it should work given that USB pops up as a source for rear seat media.

I've managed to get videos working on USB. After a silly amount of toing and froing with Land Rover and them providing me a painful to read technical document (pm me with an email address if you want a copy) I ended up with the very simple process below.

The biggest annoyance is you can only play USB movies in the rear via the rear USB slot, and can only play USB movies in the front via the front slot. Land Rover have confirmed this is working as (very badly) designed.

I'm using a 64GB USB with about 20 movies on it and it works well.

I first get my videos in MP4 format and obviously they need to be DRM free. Then

1. From www.divx.com download divx converter
2. Install it then open it and drag your mp4 file into it.
3. Select output profile “Home Theater”

That's it! You'll find divx very slow and more often than not for me it appears to have hung mid conversion even though it's actually completed its task and the file you want is properly created and sitting in the divx file folder. But once you use it a bit and learn its peculiarities it's pretty easy.
