Before I go and pay £60 for this Land Rover Emergency Tow Strap Assembly - STC8919AA, are there better options available? I'm interested only in emergency towing (a few meters only). It might be a silly question, but how is this tow strap attached, is there any screw required to fit on the frame? |

Behind the little towing electrics cover, there is a big hook. That can be used for it

It has a hook each end with a safety catch.

I really couldn't say one way or the other it's just that I happen to have a L/R one, had it years not even sure where I got it from, probably off e-bay in the day's when I had a P38.

There's another cover below the front number plate. Never taken it off. |

Any direct links as there are way too many options? @Col, have you ever got the chance to use the original tow rope from LR? Any feedback? |

I thought that elastic ropes are not indicated.

If in doubt try reading the vehicle handbook and all tow loops will be revealed. 07MY RRS TDV6

The Halfords' tow rope is actually a strap which has elastic in it to make it contract when not under tension. The elastic plays no part in the towing operation - it's not a kinetic rope. The benefit of the elastic is that it helps prevent the strap dragging on the floor if the vehicles close up slightly.

The Genuine L/R one's are only rated at 3,000KG's so not exactly heavy duty.
