2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Low range selection - put the gear selector to neutral, and down on the centre consol behind the rotary knob and in front of the centre cubby box there should be two rocker switches, IIRC the left one is for the Hill Descent Control with an icon of a car on a down slope, the Right hand switch has an icon of sylised mountains and LOW on it, if you press that in neutral then the low box will engage and the raocker switch has a warning light on it as well as the same icon of a mountain appearing on ther dash. You may have to rotate the Terrain Responce knob and select one of the programmes as well.

There is a "glow plug" light which might not come on if the temperature is high enough (above 5c IIRC), there isn't an "ECU" light but there is an icon with an engine in it that will appear if there are engine management issues. There is no DPF on early models.

On early HSE's the centre cubby box is chilled and there is a switch for it on the front edge of the cubby box lip, should be working. Also there may be a telephone cradle under the cubby box lid and there should be a tray that covers the insulated section of the cubby and can hold coins and pens, that should be able to be clipped onto the underside of the cubby box lid. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Thanks very much Tim.

Glow plug light came on, but didn't recall a light with an engine symbol.

Arh yes I forgot about the chiller bit. I looked in there and there was a connector on the lid but no cradle.

Just to be clear, don't expect the compressor to stop as soon as the car is raised - the initial pressure is sourced from the gallery, which then takes a little longer to re-fill. Thumbs Up

The round knob is the terrain response, you then have the yellow HDC button, and either side of it are the ride height and the high/low ratio switches (picture of a road with "Hi" and mountain with "Lo"). Wink

There is only an engine MIL from 2007 (was a requirement for EU4 regulations). Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

IIRC the engine icon light should come on briefly as part of the start up checks, like an airbag self check does. If no icon on the self check then suspect that it has been hidden with insulation tape................ and is permanently on, which could be because of EGR or Turbo issues........... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Oh and what does the gong mean at the end of the ignition sequence? Ready to start?

Could be any of a number of warnings! From seat belt not done up through a door not fully closed, tail gate not latched to washer bottle low to impending doom in the engine! You can recall the most recent warnings through the column stack IIRC (it is a 5 years since I last drove an RRS1!) 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Basically, it's a systems check type thing. You can get various erroneous bongs can on the earlier vehicles (2005 mainly) which got cleared up with later instrument pack software versions. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

If you should be particularly concerned about it, it's also stored in various ECUs. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK
