Hello, I have owned a RRS TDV8 now for 8 years and 100k mls without any large issues : 2 new batteries, new alternator and new aircompressor, until now ...
When pulling out of a junction (with normal acceleration), the car lost all power, and began running roughly, I pulled over immediately, and switched off (only 100m further down the road after it happened tried to restart, immediately roughly running, big smelly smoke out of the left exhaust. I cut the engine and knew it was going to be : injector, EGR or turbo.
I had the car towed and examined : TWO EGR valves were seized up, the left turbo was full of oil, even oil in the airbox, and the right turbo was seized up ...
OK, bite the bad tasting cheese and cough up 6000 € as repair bill
Today I got the dreaded call : the engine makes loud rattling and ticking noises ...
Anybody out there with the same problem ? (what did you do ?)
Anybody out there who had a recon engine fitted ?
This is in fact my 5th landrover, first a brand new 90TD5, then a brand new disco2 TD5, then bought a 2nd hand Defender 110 300Tdi as a travel vehicle, then bought the brand new RRS TDV8, and now last year bought another Defender with a HD2.8 engine fitted, So I am into the brand (but the brand obviously is not into me ...)
Does anybody have any experience with asking LR about this and what they can do (or is the car too old ?)
