Strongman - moi?

Nice afternoon for changing tyres, so down to my garage to whip up the car and swap the fronts over.

Did one side OK, then went to loosen the nuts on the other side, using the OE supplied tool. Now bearing in mind I use a torque wrench to tighten up the bolts to a reasonable 85 ft lb, was more than surprised when the OE tool broke Shocked

I'm not a heavy person nor a muscle bound Mr World wannabe, though I do regular weights, but very surprised that the socket broke at the pivot point. This happen to anyone else?

You mean the Censored wheel brace that LR provide? Yes, it's a known problem, same as the cheese-jack. Rolling Eyes

Like many, I keep a breaker bar with 22mm and 23mm (for swollen nuts) sockets in the car. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Ah - phew (sort of) - thought I'd had too many protein shakes...

Funny you should mention swollen nuts. Went down to the local motor factors and bought an extendable Draper Wheel Nut tool with 22mm head and it only fits 3/4 + locker Sad Need to go back in morning for a 23mm socket.

Just had a new set of refurb wheels put on mine this afternoon. Some of the bolts were swollen due to corrosion too plus one of the lockers had cracked down the middle and swollen as well. Got them all off but there were some moments where you had to hold your breath.

Going to order new bolts as a matter of urgency. On that note, does anyone know the best site to get them from?

Yep, the standard nuts swell, the lockers break (and are best binned). Rolling Eyes Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK
