3.0 SDV6 Remap Tuning

As an update to a previous thread, where I was asked about the 3.0 TDV6 / SDV6, I have now had a 3.0 D4 SDV6 commercial (255bhp) on our rolling road, so I thought you'd like to see the results. We have been remapping the 3.0 for a few years now, in many different countries, and have always managed over 300bhp on the 8 speed models. It was nice to get one on my own dyno to gather more data and improve if required, but I think our tuning is pretty much spot on, and since we've never had a single problem with any 3.0, I'm not going to push any harder.

I posted this on our Facebook page earlier this week, but since many of you may not be on there, I thought it best I posted on here too. Very Happy

Quote:
We had a 2013 Discovery 4 SDV6 (8 Speed) commercial in today for remapping. The standard (255hp) car made 259.5bhp and 627.2Nm torque. After we applied our remapping, the car made a very impressive 306bhp and 727.2Nm. Thats a gain of 46.5bhp and exactly 100Nm more torque! Road test was really impressive too, with significantly sharper engine response, smoother gear changes, and significantly quicker acceleration.

Previous tests on the 8 speed Disco 4 have seen a 0-60mph time of exactly 7.0 seconds (8.1 seconds in standard tune), and 0-100mph in 19.9 seconds (24.7 seconds as standard)!

Impressive stuff.
Do you have to open the ECU? What's involved as I think there will be a fair few people coming to the end of their RRS 3 year LR warranty soon, so they may consider it. ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

The ecu does have to come apart, but I'm pretty good at doing it without marking it. Smile Feel the difference... Feel Alive!

Whilst I'm happy with my BAS remap, I like the idea of the electronic EGR blanking you offer.

Are you able to offer EGR switch off without the rest of the remap? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I can add EGR shut to either a tuned or standard ecu. It's no problem! Smile

Please give us a call on 01472 812900 to discuss.

I'm very interested in a remap and will be going ahead with it in the near future with yourselves, before I go ahead is there any other modifications you would recommend to maximize performance of the TDV6?

A good remap on its own will dramatically improve the power delivery and response of the TDV6/SDV6. I have a MY14 SDV6 RRS myself, and doubt I'll do anything more to it than just a nice remap. Smile Feel the difference... Feel Alive!

Good to hear, although from what I've quickly read there isnt a great deal that can be done to the MY10 other than a remap

Would you advise on the EGR shut off?

Gary at Alive remapped my SDV6 a few weeks back on his stand at Land Rover Fest Billing. I have to say it has totally transformed the car, no more delay on the throttle at roundabouts and no longer wants to change gear randomly on the 8 speed box when you don't want it too. I have no idea what kind of power and torque figures it has but it goes like Censored off a shovel now and I'm over the moon with it. Deano_123: - I like to keep all emission control systems operational on these 3.0 and 4.4 diesel engines, as they're generally very reliable. Feel the difference... Feel Alive!

I don't worry about consumption, I just shovel it in with my lead foot Embarassed Laughing Your welcome to have a drive if you want before taking the plunge Thumbs Up

I think Rover Tune will send your ECU to Alive to be mapped on the bench as I don't believe they can do it in house. 2003 BMW M5 - 5 Litres of V8 Optimax Slurping Goodness in Carbon Black
