Australia 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 SE Siberian Silver

I just cleaned my sensor, had a bit of crud in it but not blocked. When I started the car the Restricted Performance red light came on. I removed the sensor again thinking the connection was not correct the inside wasn't dry from cleaning.
The red Restricted Performance light came on as well as the amber engine system light. I think the sensor did not like being cleaned or I damaged it some how.

Just installed a new MAP sensor and faults have gone.
All good.

Michael,

Not sure. I changed mine out because I suspected it was faulty. It had a bit crud in the old one which I guess would not have helped. The MAP sensor is an expensive item if you go via a dealer ( well at least here in Australia). I ended up getting a new one less than a third of the price it would have cost from the local dealer spare parts department.

The trick is to not poke anything in the hole when cleaning. 07MY RRS TDV6

As mine was running badly, I have been meaning to do this. Today, I had a spare moment so had a peek........

Hole was visible, but crud was there.

Washed it off with WD40, taking care to poke nothing in the hole per above; despite temptation.

Bunged it back in and drove home.

Big difference! The top end injector rattle/pinking noise has gone. Much smoother on acceleration. A tad more sprightly. Unfortunately, the black smoke on clogging it mostly remains, but it was a nicer drive after doing it.

Drivetrain clunk at slow speeds now seems more noticeable though. Maybe in my head, but I noticed it....... Get a 2005-2009 RRS (FAH500210) sat nav/dash mat here - the one that wasn't there when you bought the car.

Spiffing wheel centre caps available

Wow guys thanks a lot, tips on here are awesome Very Happy

I took my MAP sensor out on a 2005 with 83k on the clock. Bottom of the sensor was just encrusted.

Cleaned it up re-installed and now my mpg has gone up from 21.5 to 23mpg. (mrs does a lot of town driving) Don't know if this would be expected or somehow I have fooled my self. either way Thumbs Up

Would this not be listed for cleaning on the LR RRS service sheet?
Would a code reader give an error or a indication it needs cleaning does anyone know? Would use IID BT. John
