I assume it depends where in London would make a difference, I'm north west and pay about £440 with £400 excess, although full no claims and no convictions, also I tend not to protect my no claims 2015 HSE SDV6 Scotia Grey, ebony / lunar, colour coded, deployable steps, TV, sliding pano and a few other bits. Nowaytk I am in north west too. I know the presumably posh suburbs of south west have a higher insurance risk rating than my area.

Didn't use to protect my no claims until it hit 10 years and then I started to protect it (12 years currently). Will play around to see what is it that's causing such a hike. I am now as curious as I am Censored off Confused Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

Thanks Ady. I did that last year but it made < £10 difference. There are only 2 job titles that I can justify selecting. Anything else and I would be lying big time Laughing .

Anyway, panic over now Very Happy My guess is that there is currently a glitch in some back-end system that confused.com, gocompare.com and moneysupermarket.com share. Big thanks to Mr Singh for reminding me about the Meerkat site that I hadn't tried. Ignoring Admiral LittleBox (Black Box) at £978, Elephant came up with a more humane £1,226 quote with Diamond a very close second. That's cheaper than the premiums I was quoted in March! Tried fresh quotes on the other comparison websites to eliminate the possibility of any mistake on my part but they are still quoting ridiculous numbers.

Doesn't explain why LR Insurance quoted £1,900+ online without mentioning convictions, why DirectLine wanted £3,700+ on the phone and why Tesco online thought I would pay SIX GRAND to insure a mass production car Rolling Eyes There are always some outliers so don't care.

I will take everyone's suggestions on board closer to the time to see if I can reduce it further. £1,226 does seem rather high compared to other forum members' premiums but I have been paying around this mark for the last 3 years so more comfortable. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

Simple fact is the underrighters don't want the risk so they increase the ratings, it could be the thefts or just that of late they have been hit with some large claims on that brand of car

But it doesn't make sense if the insurer (and hence the underwriter) is the same. Elephant premium of £2025-£2050 with £1000 voluntary excess on confused and moneysupermarket but £1226 premium with voluntary excess of £250 on comparethemarket. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

You will also be being hit because it is an SUV and capable of being used offroad - even if you never want to use it for that most insurers don't want the increased risk of you doing serious damage to the vehicle so load the rates to put you off. Aslo have you ever heard anybody having anything good to say about the claims payments records of all these discount insurers? Some of them are shocking. Also none of them will ever send your car to be repaired at an approved LR repairer purely because they cost so much - failing to do that wipes out your LR warranties............ so which do you value more cheap repairs or your car's warranty? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Insurers can't insist who repairs a vehicle, but if there are subsequent problems are generally not liable for rectification if the consumer didn't use their recommended repairer. And repairs outside of the network don't necessarily affect any warranty.

I have never had to claim on my insurance but have heard both good and bad things about claims handling by Admiral and read good and bad reports about LRI. Makes it hard for me to justify spending the extra £1k/year. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

No problem @fkarim. Don't know if you're taking out GAP Insurance but the LRI includes it for the first year. Might be something to consider when choosing who to go with.

Land rover quoted about £500 which is about the same as the rest on the internet , the free gap and genuine parts with a loan car is the thing that swings it for me , plus 7 days free .

LR is close to £2k for me without mentioning convictions. Will only go up when our fixed penalties are taken into account. Will speak to them closer to the time to see if there is any movement possible on price.

I was going to get GAP insurance separately anyway. Didn't know LR insurance included it for 1 year which is tempting, agreed. However, will I still be able to get GAP insurance from another provider after I have had the car for a year? My understanding was you could only get it until a certain number of months after buying. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

The car hasn't been built yet but yes, it will have a tracker (Land Rover InControl Secure) and I selected it on Land Rover Insurance website when obtaining a quote. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top
