OK so I am expecting to get the car on Saturday and today the salesman emailed me to ask if I wanted a tracker. I replied back saying it should already have InControl Secure Thatcham Cat 6. His response was while that was true, for the Sports he had handed over this month insurers had not accepted unless the cars had Cat 5. So my question to people who have already collected their MY16s (especially in London area): Did you have to get a SECOND tracker to get the car insured? Some people may have installed an additional tracker for their own peace of mind but my question is purely from an insurance acceptance point of view.

I have just done mine through A Plan site sponsors and they are ok with the standard set up and not asked for a separate tracker. They seem to be very efficient and saved me a few bob along the way so highly recommended MY16 AUTOBIOGRAPHY Indus silver with some toys

Thanks rigsby. I will get a quote from A-Plan (even though they haven't been competitve enough for me in the past). I got 1 week free insurance with the current car - that is still the case, right? Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

Not had any such conditions imposed yet from the companies I have enquired with (on-line) but when it comes to taking the insurance if the factory fit system is not good enough I will just not complete the deal - car not fit for purpose. My current LR product is a piece of cr@p so its a great leap of faith to buy another LR and it won't take much for me to walk away for good. 2018 MY19 HSE Dynamic, Santorini, Ebony/Ivory, Sliding pano, Adaptive cruise, Black wheels. Arrived 3rd September 2018

I thought all new RRS came with Incontrol Secure as standard now and that is a tracker system. IIRC it is also no cost for the first 3 years/ until the warranty runs out....... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

My insurers were happy to accept the Cat 6 InControl Secure (or is that InSecure ) system alone but I opted to have a Tracker Cat 5 system installed too. |

At least you get offroad cover, roofrack and trailer contents and unlimited continental driving thrown in with LRI, if you ever need them! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I would love to get Land Rover Insurance but they just quoted me over £2,900. That £1,500-£1,700 (difference between LRI and the best quote I've had so far) extra for cover that I don't need is a bit too much for me. 30 days continental driving is more than enough for us and we do not require rest of the benefits that Tim listed above. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

My premium with LRI is just 10% of the quote you got and it would be lower if I didn't have an 87 year named driver on the policy............. and I'm not in the cheapest postcode in Scotland either as I have a Falkrk FK address despite living nowhere near that town and out in the sticks that are the Trossachs. Must be the Land Rover russling around here that increases my premium! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

£2958 to be accurate. It's ridiculous. We are not youngsters (mid 30s), it may be called a Sport but being a 6 cyl Diesel certainly not fast enough to be a boy racer's car, post code risk group is E (A is lowest, F is highest), got one 3 point/£60 fixed penalty each from nearly 5 years and 3.5 years ago, 12+ years NCB, no claims EVER.
