LED Bulbs registering fault codes?

I've recvently replaced most of my interior bulbs with LED's. 1 in the boot, the 3 front overhead lights, 4 doors, 2 under-dash and the 2 puddle lamps in the wing mirrors.

For some reason 2? of these are constantly generating faults that re-appear even when I clear them using my IID tool:

Body Control
B1D13-15 (2E) Interior lamps 1 circuit
B1D14-15 (2E) Interior lamps 2 circuit

All the LED's work but 2 of them must be dodgy in some way - does anybody know which lamps these faults refer to please?

Not a major problem (I hope) but annoying in an OCD sort of way! Wink

As the LED's draw much less current, the car sees this as a fault.

Its nothing to worry about Thumbs Up

I have also replaced mine, I made sure they where CANBUS ones, so the car does not see them as faulty, I would send them back and get some that work with the Canbus system 07,TDV8,Black, Black Heated leather all round, Rear Entertainment with Headpones & Remote, TV, DVD, Pure Dab Digital Radio, Sidesteps, Adaptive Headlights, sunroof, now working fuel burning heater Smile)))

Thanks - I just assumed with them being Philips bulbs (not cheap) that they would be OK. Just had a look at their site and apparently I would need to buy a CANBUS warning canceller per bulb as well to get rid of the error which would double the cost of them... not to mention making them a pain in backside to fit.

Chucked all the packaging away now so can't really send them back. They're all working and unless I go looking for fault codes there is no apparent problem so will leave them be for now. At some point in the future I might upgrade my wifes car to LED's and sort the problem that way Wink

Mine were £13 for..... 2 bulbs! Embarassed

There are no problems really - no errors appear on the dash or anything like that. Just that when I do a check for fault codes there are some listed for interior lights... whether that would happen with your eBay ones too I don't know.

Basically if I didn't keep messing about with my IIDtool I'd be none the wiser and assume everything was fine Thumbs Up

I have several LED bulbs on mine that cost £25 a pair and my H8 cornering ones were over £20 each, but then, those are all exterior ones...

You just have to get used to ignoring some codes when you have a diagnostic tool. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Sidelights are next on my list... was going to go with the Osram ones given they'll get heavy use...

Wasn't aware you could get some for the cornering lamps too though so they're on the list now too! Would like to replace the foglamp bulbs as well if that's possible?

Mine are all HIDs4u:

Cornering lamps: http://www.hids4u.co.uk/h8-28-led-foglight...power.html There's an H11 version for the fogs but do consider that the beam pattern will be affected. I'm very happy with them as cornering lamps but don't have them in the fogs as I'm doing something else with them so can't comment on that.

Sidelights: http://www.hids4u.co.uk/501-led-bulb-long-...white.html 5000k matches the xenons nicely. The shorter, amber version is great for side indicator repeaters.

These look great in the D3 clusters as tail/brake bulbs - an intense red glow. Not paid any attention to the RRS clusters - Do they take bulbs or are they already LEDs? http://www.hids4u.co.uk/380-Ultimate-Canbus-92-SMD-LED-Bulb.html Amber 382 version for the indicators too (need resistors). Smile

15% off with DISCO315. Wink

Thanks for the links, unfortunately 2 of the 3 are out of stock but I'll get those 501's for the sidelights for sure as mine look simply awful alongside the Xenons.

I've used HIDs4u before too so have no qualms about ordering stuff off them. I actually received a 10% code with my last order but your code trumps that so even better Thumbs Up

Thumbs Up

Yeah, shame they're out of stock.

I should clarify, the 5000k ones match the OEM xenons. Those with higher kelvin bulbs will probably want to go for the 6000k ones. Wink Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Definitely reckon on 5000k to match Xenons then and not 6000K (gonna order some this afternoon) Very Happy

EDIT: OK - your last post has sowed the seeds of doubt lol - how do I know what bulbs I have?

You can take the cover off the lights and take a look but otherwise, it's just how blue they are. Like this:

Many fit the 6000k+ ones as they like the blue tinge but it only reduces the light output (in the case of HIDs).

That's really helpful thanks. I'm not aware of any blue tint to my headlamps - the closest match in that picture would be the 4300k ones I think so 5000k would be the way to go... however they're out of stock too!!! Big Cry
