before doing this make sure they will honour that agreement. After my fight they might try and change the wording. |

Slightly confused feedback from the garage but what they said was it was the front crankshaft seal and new oil pump seal and sensor. Then they said it was the rear crankshaft seal but to get to the oil pump they had to renew a front seal??? They assure me that LR quote 15 hours for the whole job. Hopefully when it is done I will get more information on the total job. Was hoping that as they will have the car in till end of day next Wednesday they would have supplied a courtesy car but at the moment they say they do not have one - for such an expensive repair sort of thought they would supply one - they are looking for one. Still -happy that warranty is picking up most of the cost. |

When all completed I will try and get a copy of the bill and make it available to anyone who wishes to look at it. |

For Paddi and others that would like the details -here follows: Job description: Crankshaft oil seal (rear) - oil pump seal and level sensor leaking. This was interesting: Standard Hours - 7.70, Actual Hours 15.00. Labour rate: £105 plus VAT When this was queried by Warranty Direct the following additional info was given: Note: There are two jobs involved, the oil pump required the front of the engine stripping to replace and the level sensor requires the sump to be removed in order to get to. This is why the hours went from 7.70 to 15.00. The final job broke down as follows: Labour £1,575 Parts which included Timing Belt £423.36 Fluids ie oil £71.70 Total £2,070.06 plus VAT = £2,547.19 I am paying but WD have agreed to reimburse me less £50 excess and an oil filter circe £11.95 plus VAT Hope that gives all the information everyone wants and that WD pay me back fairly quickly. Obviously pleased I followed the forum advice and took out the WD warranty. Even on a 3 yr old car only with 29,000 miles |

It sounds like the dealer has been having a quiet month |

On a three year old car I'd be paying for LR's warranty. No worries about paying out and waiting for reimbursement then - they just do the work. Anyway, glad you got it sorted out in the end - does sound like a typical "make it up and see what we can get away with" approach from the dealership... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

I did not think LR Warranty covered wear & tear and for a crankshaft seal LR could say wear and tear that is why I went for WD cover and not LR cover. |

UPDATE - thought I would check my oil level after all the work done by the dealer and read out said 'overfilled' rang them up and they said leave over night and test again. Did this and still overfilled. Phoned them back and they said bring it in immediately. Took in in and had a two hour wait, one hour round trip drive. They took out 1/4 litre. No sorry or apology for wasting my time.

. Take a deap breath, Sit down. How about £111.50 + £22.30 VAT =£133.80 Per Hour at Stratstones. Just paid £507.20 For Supply and fitting front Driveshaft they said 2 Hour job ? Had Fuel Gauge Modification done at same time,Paid for by Landrover. That also was supposed to be a 2 Hour job. They kept my car for a week. Now i have my car back,i have another problem that was not there when it went in. When driving accelerater goes dead, until i release and start again. I was wondering is this a case of, do a job, create a job? itisme |
