England 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Stornoway Grey

I am looking at something German now and with a badge that stands for quality rather than a pimped up farmers tractor and abysmal customer services.... Ops sorry i forgot im not a land rover customer because i dont buy my vehicles new.

As for the heap of crap that was my RRS im getting it recoverd to my feild and once iv ripped anything of value out of it.... (Mostly my ipod) then me and my mates are going to smash the Censored out of it and then burn it, whilst we video it and then upload to the world. Yes i might be acting a little bit like a spoilt child, but id be fairly certain that in this day and age with social media like facebook etc... Then i will show land rover what i think their brand is worth.

Scrap value isnt fussy if the car has been burnt out or not. 08MY HSE 3.6 TDV8 Stornoway Grey, Twisted performance cat back... and shed loads of extras!!!

I hope it's German and under 3 years old or it might be out of the frying pan and into the fire!

My A4 was a pile of crap. It spent more time in the garage than on the road. Rolling Eyes

My friends year old A3 spontaneously combusted on his drive last week. Shocked Don't think I'll bother with another German car. Evil or Very Mad Arrived: MY16 A/B SDV6 in Aruba, Ivory interior, piano black trim, black panoramic roof, spare wheel, blind spot monitoring, mudlaps and more... Twisted Evil

Yeah, I had a C Class that I had to get rid of due a gearbox electrical fault that couldn't be diagnosed (cost me plenty trying to though!). Then there was the Boxster & 996 IMS catastrophe.

Basically if you want risk free motoring either buy a car with lots of original warranty or a Ford Focus.

My neighbour has one from 1999, so one of the originals. She's had it since new and apparently never broken down. Shocked Probably worth peanuts now but excellent cars, especially for the money. Thumbs Up Arrived: MY16 A/B SDV6 in Aruba, Ivory interior, piano black trim, black panoramic roof, spare wheel, blind spot monitoring, mudlaps and more... Twisted Evil

True, a lot of it comes down to luck. My point was that it's a German built car that won't thrown up bills in the thousands

My Golf lunched its gearbox at 66k miles. Just out of warranty. VW did put help out with the cost but it still cost me about £1500 for a new gearbox.

The so called "reliable" Golf... Whistle 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I know more people who have had problems with VW and Mercs than LR's but if I had the problems OP writes I wouldn't buy another Sad

Thankfully my long list of LR's have been great in the main - unfortunately in my experience the dealers are not up to the same standard as the vehicles Rolling Eyes Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

Lurker from the Defender site here.

Been considering a sport of the same type of age as the ops once my current car sells, as only had defenders ever. Sorry to say thought the type of work described scares me with the electrics and gadgets.
You've put me off sounds the wrong thing to say, but I'd probably be giving one a harder life than most see realistically so more of an eye opener really.

So thanks in a way for this thread and sorry to hear about yours obviously. Consider a Gwagon if you want a nice simple vehicle to be worked on.

Think ill stick with Defenders and just have to lust over the luxury of your sports when im at the dealers getting cheap repairs done. Confused
