if you do if you don't. Took mine for its service last October - watched the playback on my Blackvue - bleep - bleep - click - click - you could see the service assistant walking up & down the car park looking for the Sport - they haven't even got a Process to identify where the car is left - even though the bays was numbered - its in again Tuesday for a check on the starting issue when cold ( shakes through the cabin from start up ). Why is it you expect nothing but cost from a visit to the stealers - it is under warranty & done less than 21k mileage so I'm more than prepared for the row with the warranty company or the selling dealership - bring it on

I'm a big fan of independent specialists too, so this caught my eye. To be clear, the original warranty does not specify that only LR franchised dealers must be used. You can quite happily use an independent for warranty work even if the car is only a few weeks old. The garage must be VAT registered and meet all the quality and parts requirements but they are free to carry out warranty work. Things can and do change for follow-on warranties but I thought it was worth clarifying what indys can do. Many of my problems were caused by dealership monkeys as was body damage, wheel damage and dogs mattress when a monkey put a loads of oily bits in the boot. First body off job resulted in drowned ecu under battery when they didn't nitice they had cracked it putting body back on. Also had a lower column replaced which appeared on warranty history without my knowledge. I presume they 'd it then claimed it was faulty. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

PEACHY I decided to retire last year and I'm still going through mine, For some peculiar reason or the other I've just bought a GTS Body Kit from Overfinch to put on my MY12 Autobiography. WHY?. Unfortunately these Cars can almost become an obsession. Guess I have to much time on my hands. Cheers Col |

You get what you pay for going to an indi, my local dealership is 30 miles away it has a nice shiny reception, coffee machine, drinks machine and a nice person on reception, my local indi is 5 miles away he has a desk full of paperwork, an oily carpet no coffee or drinks but not once in 6 years has the car have to be returned to him because he hasnt done the job properly, and yet he has everything lr have in there workshop but charges half the labour rate |

Yes, good point well made. This is LR's extended warranty purchased from Car Care Plan. As far as I can see, one has to use LR dealerships if at all possible. Not sure one would get away with using a non-LR garage for work that didn't involve being taken in on a flat bed truck. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

I've owned numerous Mercedes (over twenty) and "only" three LR's; one Disco3 and two RRS's (a TDV6 & TDV8) and got to say that in my experience LR has been exemplary far more reliable than Mercedes. |

I would add I have owned 2 classic RRs, 3 p38 RRs and now my RRS and never had a major issue . I know that is the kiss of death to say that but I am all warranted up for the next 18 months |

This is my first LR and it's by far the biggest garage queen of anything I've owned. The list of things that have been sorted is long and would have been bank-tremblingly expensive were it not for the warranty.

I had my first Merc E300 D estate in 1997 and E320s upto Nov 2014 when I bought a 2011 RRS TDV6 with 22,000 miles that has already cost more in repairs than all my other Mercs (4) put together. Love the car and have a warranty but I also want a reliable car that won't let me down when I am driving across France. We all love our RRS's and they are great cars but perhaps we are too accepting of how we are treated by LR and their dealers. |

Tommy boy, have you considered the VW Touareg? That is basically what the Cayenne is but prettier (my opinion of course).
