Flat battery / jump start

My car won't start, guessing flat battery due to sluggish turn over and dashboard lighting up like christmas tree. There's no way to jump start an automatic on a downhill is there? Crying or Very sad L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso

I'll just have to wait for Green Flag.

I reckon it's in poor health, so I better order a replacement. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso

It was sluggish earlier. Do you have any battery charger to try? Or it could be on last legs as you mentioned. Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible

I don't have any kit. I'll get Green Flag to start it and then get a new battery sorted.

It was all so much easier in the old days... just get a couple of guys to give you a push, lift the clutch and you chug into life! L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso

Given the relatively low use, I'd recommend getting a ctek charger. Either the msx5.0 or 7.0 or 10.0
All would be more than suitable for your needs and come with a connector lead you can leave connected to the car to make it easier to connect to for charging. Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible

Agreed on the Ctek. I bought one recently and use it through the towing socket. If you don't have one of those, the Ctek comes with a choice of croc clips and ring connectors anyway so you can leave a quick release lead on the battery and just plug-and-go. You might want to order a Ctek extension lead if, like me, you want to have the Ctek in the garage whilst the vehicle sits outside on charge. It's 2m long and packs away to almost nothing. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

In theory yes, but you need a long and steep downhill, need to get it at probably around 60-80 Kph. '08 RRS TDV8

Well, I got my new battery and so I have been able to use the remote heat Bodsy enabled for me... And what a joy it is!!! Suddenly winter ain't so bad after all. Thumbs Up

I have not bought a ctek - I'm not sure how I coukd make this work as I only have on-street parking. There's no solar powered trickle chargers are there? Or maybe I could get a wind turbine. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso

Halfords and others do a solar panel charger designed for caravans but works well on cars too. Plugs in to cigar lighter and trickles 0.5 amps which is plenty to keep battery topped up. Plenty on eBay too. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!

But you will have to modify the cigar lighter to be always on.

O r cut the plug and connect to the battery or the towing electrics(inside car) '08 RRS TDV8

Not the case when being back fed. I used one on my sport and wasn't a key near it. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

Surprised to hear that, thought they were always disconnected, but nice to know.

Do all 3 cigar lighter work in reverse without key? '08 RRS TDV8

One in boot does not sure about the rest. I plugged mine in and sat it on roller blind. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
