Suspension drops when I get out...

Hi,

Hoping this is just normal behaviour with the suspension being self-levelling but just wanted to make sure. Basically I noticed yesterday that after I got out of the RRS and locked her with the fob... after a few moments the OSF corner dropped down. She still looked level all around... just surprised me as the ignition was off and the car locked. Question

Must have been compensating when Lardy driver got out. 🙊
It's normal for them to do that, the system doesn't shut down for up to 30 mins after you turn it off. Hence why it is recommended that you drop to access height when you park especially if parking for long periods. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜

Thanks for the quick reply... I feel suitably reassured. Thumbs Up

Will make sure I use access mode if she's going to be parked up for a while unused too Smile

If you're going to drop it in to access height, do so before you put the gearbox in park. As it drops, the wheelbase changes slightly which will put stress on bushes etc. Try it with and without it being in park and you may well here it creaking slightly when dropped in park. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

^^^^ Good point also keep your foot off the brake as this will make it creak when operating. Embarassed

Great tip. I noticed this very early in the ownership at the carwash when dropping from offroad to normal height in Park. In addition to the creaking noise, the wheels were slanted (toes inwards IIRC) and it freaked me out a little bit thinking what it could be doing to the components with all that weight. I always put the suspension in offroad mode before a wash so they have plenty of room to wash the wheel arches properly (they hate me for that but they have stools to reach the roof so their "hardship" doesn't bother me too much). Now I only drop back to normal height after driving away. Do the same when dropping to access mode - initiate a little ahead of time so the operation is complete by the time I have finished parking Thumbs Up Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

Didn't know that either... so either drop into access whilst coming up the driveway or put into neutral first.

Won't be doing it too often... probably only when its parked up while we go on holiday as she'll be getting used most days. Thumbs Up
