Hi Jock, I think these TDV6 engines are a lottle tempramental when the weather gets down to like 1 degree. I believe its something to do with injectors. Its not really a fault of such I just don't think they cope so well in cold weather.

Get disco Mikey to have a look at the live value to fix it. Could be oil temp sensor. Bodsys Brake Bible

Hi, my Disco 3 was also like this until I cleaned the MAF sensor on the top of the engine (ish) made a lot of difference to the running and especially the tick over |

Hi Jock, when you pull the engine cover off it's on top of the air intake with a plug attached, I think it's a torx screw if I remember .Removed mine and cleaned all the soot of it as it was filthy, also try to clean the small hole out but don't poke with a needle !! Im sure someone will upload a picture of this but I ain't got a clue how to sorry. |

To clarify, you're thinking of the MAP sensor (Manifold Absolute Pressure). Easy enough to clean but don't poke anything into the hole. The sensor at the air filter box is the MAF meter (Mass Air Flow - measures the amount of air going into the engine). This is very easy to damage but some have had success using electrical contact cleaner. Best not to touch it unless you can guarantee it's the problem. ![]() Jock, when you say plug, I assume you mean the electrical connector? If this is disconnected you're bound to have problems. ![]() The best thing to run it on is two-stroke oil. 400ml per tank (500 is easier) is supposed to be the optimum amount. It must be JASO FB spec (FC is better or compulsory for DPF cars). Castrol Actevo is FC spec. You'll get more MPG too. ![]() ![]() 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 Auto HSE Zambezi Silver ![]() |
