Maybe it isn't fuel in the tank but all the water that has got through the gap at the top of the rear bumper and is trapped there, corroding all the electrical connectors and rusting the body.

Mike, I heard it the week after buying the car new with only 300 miles on the clock and yesterday I still hear it. Very annoying.

It seems the sloshing in my car is worst when the tank is near half full. I can even hear it from outside the car now. I stopped the car today and jumped out quickly and the sloshing noise from the back was very evident

call me suspicious, but I'm sure there was a technical bulletin called something like "fuel slap" on the Land Rover diagnostics website, under the L494. I cant see it listed any more.

yes, they can repair this, they react only on customer request.

this Needs 1-2 days, as they have to dismount the fuel-tank, than they have to put inside on difficult to reach positions a Kind of "foam" on two positions.

Best,
René

This was brought up in mcgoas's RRS v X5 comparison thread

I was driving in a car park this morning with the music off for once.....with half a tank of fuel registering..

The sloshing about is quite audible and bloody annoying.... from slushing to interspersed low thuds...

I'm taking this one up with my dealer... He'll probably tell me there is nothing he can do....

If so i'll escalate it to LR...

Surely others have noticed this...

Just read this thread after a month or so away...
I've had this from day 1, the noise is very audible and it is a PITA especially on a £60k motor. Good to hear it can be sorted, will be taking up with dealer pronto Thumbs Up Stu

See - http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic38960.html

Solution appears to be to insert foam to line the tank walls.

Am I correct in assuming this slosh/slap only affects the oil burners?

Ours is a 3ltr Diesel.

We thought it was suspension knocking, but then thought tank and hit the web!

Interestingly, coming from an XF which suffers the same issue. I wonder in the fuel tanks are common across the JLR range or if there is just a standard design fault..!
