Fuel tank sloshing ... So annoying

This was brought up in mcgoas's RRS v X5 comparison thread

I was driving in a car park this morning with the music off for once.....with half a tank of fuel registering..

The sloshing about is quite audible and bloody annoying.... from slushing to interspersed low thuds...

I'm taking this one up with my dealer... He'll probably tell me there is nothing he can do....

If so i'll escalate it to LR...

Surely others have noticed this... 2014.5 SDV6 AB Dynamic ... Fuji /Santorini Pan roof and 22's

I have...but unless a long journey is forthcoming, I keep the tank under half full.

I don't know if it applies to rrs but some fuel tanks have baffle plates to stop this. Maybe one has come adrift.??

This used to drive me mad and I complained about it from day one.

Eventually after a year of complaining Landrover agreed there was a problem and issued a technical bulletin to cover the fuel tank sloshing.

At first service time the dealer removed and replaced my fuel tank which has cured the problem.

It's very annoying. There's no way you can't hear it if you have the problem.

Little things like that and the goddam auto stsrt turning the engine off when you are trying to do a 3pt turn make me wish for German Engineering again.

Maybe fuel slap more obvious in 5 plus 2 config. ?

I could hear the fuel sloshing the first week I got the car. Like you say, very annoying when you can hear it.

Its a wonder there is not a baffle plate for the fuel tank to prevent this.

Its not just a problem with RRS, my pal has had his Jaguar in for the same problem. They fitted baffle plates to his fuel tank too. Why these issues arn't picked up on on test of these vehicles, is beyond me. Whistle

Agree, its the type of thing that you would find in old 1980s cars not 2014. Back to school for some motor engineers.

I'm afraid the only noise the LR people can hear is the sound of them patting themselves on the back. Mark

I first read this thread about a month ago and I must admit that I thought what on earth were you guys talking about! Then this afternoon whilst manouvering around a car park, I heard the sloshing noise for the first time and it was quite pronounced. I'm well attuned to picking up new noises from my cars and this is definitely the first time this sloshing noise has occured. Is it possible that in some cars, the fuel tank baffles collapse earlier than others which is why I haven't heard sloshing in my car until now after some 1500 miles?

Reversing in car park today and heard dreaded sloshing sound looked in back and found half full bottle of water thought thank God for that. Laughing Laughing
