France 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Maya Gold
MATRICULATION - France to UK

In March I will be relocating permanently from France to UK. I have a 2006 Sport that will require UK plates. Can anyone tell me the procedure? Also I will be requiring UK insurance (living in Derbyshire) - any thoughts as to where I can get the best deal? Andrew Kennedy

Run it on French plates for a while, no speed camera's, Whistle Whistle no parking tickets, Thumbs Up or so I have been led to believe, of course I would not dream of this myself. Plus when the Police stop you, talk back in French, and I bet they just let you go Laughing In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
Gone - A couple of RRS, A couple of Disco's. However thinking of another Sport.

Long and laborious process. I brought a car back from Switzerland and it was complete mare. You need to get a STA test from VOSA as a start ( single type Approval) which involves changing headlights, tail lights if you only have one rear fog light, all to suit right hand drive, and a speedo head that has MPH instead of KPH predominately.
Once you have got this, you have to take vehicle to local licensing centre which no longer exist, so may have changed, along with original purchase papers and export certificate to have UK number plate issued. You can't do this unless you have UK insurance as they won't accept European cover. At this point you will have to pay VED, road tax plus first registration fee which adds £230 to £500 annual tax.
Happy landings Thumbs Up 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱

Another option could be to sell up in France (assuming the car is more at home in France, i.e. LHD), and get yourself a replacement RRS when you are in the UK. Thumbs Up 2016 VW Golf GTD DSG

Think I'm right in saying that if you're British then you can't insure a foreign car.

So if the car is French & you're British then you'll have to get rid of it unless you register it as a UK vehicle (which, as simple1 says, sounds like it's a right pain)

...or something like that anyway.
