New 2014 shape rrs ...yuk ..or is it just me

I've seen a couple of these on the road now and one up close at the stealers

Am I alone in thinking it looks like a middle aged Evoque after too many pies.
That back end ....argh my eyes

The new shape is growing on me....after seeing a nice AB example at the stealers ..... I still kinda prefer the "old" shape tho

Interior wins hands down in the new one for me tho....

Australia 2010 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black

I still can't "like" the back end. The SVR looks OK but other versions just don't cut it with me. The rest is OK except the stupid fake bonnet scoops. The interior is better but I would be wary of some durability issues as reported on here.

Will the new shape stand the test of time? Not sure anymore, JLR build quality hasn't improved much from what I have seen and driven. Overall, the last of the "old" shape wins for me. Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

Im not keen on the back end but I'm sure in 6 months or so I'll like it the more you see it.

England 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Tonga Green

Like the front, dislike the rear, and yes, it does look a little like a Fat Evoque.

The rear has the same styling as a Ford. Sat behind one (Ford) yesterday and it looked the same, the Ford even had a split boot (that's what it looked like anyway!).

Dont get me wrong, I wouldn't refuse a new model!!

On the other hand I do think the new style FF is very nice indeed! Looks much more streamlined, almost like a RRS.... lol...

Maybe the designers got mixed up and put the wrong badges on them all....

Unfortunately, everything JLR now make looks like it is based on the Evoque. Gone are the original different designs throughout their range.

I struggled with liking the new shape, especially from the rear, but when i parked my old one next to the new one then the old one looked very old IMHO, it was the next natural progression if I was going to stay with the brand, BUT driving it makes up for the ugly bum, stunning to drive, even with the infotainment niggles!

It needs someone to come up with a rear diffuser/splitter to replace the big black nappy that sits below the rear bumper Whistle some of my Previous cars

This is the same for many, at least in part... all of the new Fords seem to have the new Fiesta front end styling (which IMO, looks awful as the cars get bigger.. looks OK on the Fiesta, but the Focus and Mondeo are just wrong, IMO).. and BMW in particular too, especially now with the 2 and 4 series filling in the size void.. without looking at a badge, a 3, 4 and 5 series look far too similar.

Like others have said.. I just can't seem to warm to the new shape, front or rear personally. I like my "old-skool" cars that have character.. and for me, the Land Rover / Range Rover styling was big, bold and boxy. I'm sure being in them is like night and day compared to the MK1 Sport which I probably wouldn't have a problem with at all. Maybe the exterior will grow on me in a few years, but as it stands right now, it wouldn't be in my planned "upgrade" path personally.

Cheers..

Ian

May be JLR should have rolled out the new styling to FFRR or RRS first and released the new Evoque model later. Then the Evoque would have "followed" FFRR/RRS rather than the other way round. Perhaps people's opinions would have been different then.

I developed a strong dislike for RRS2 exterior at first, especially because of the rear end and the fake bonnet vents like most people who don't like it. Later I realised it does look good in the right colour. Basically anything that can be done to minimise the visual impact of that silver/grey under bumper thing does a huge favour to the looks of RRS2 IMHO. Have a look at this one: http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic33510.html I know there is some creative photography but I do think this one looks really nice. And the SVR too Bow down

The thing I struggle with is, if you compare RRS2 with the last of RRS1 in terms of like for like spec, the price hike is massive. I bought my 2013 HSE Black Edition second hand but I know it was just under £59k when new. If I spec a new RRS2 with the same toys I have in my "standard" BE, it comes to around £77k! Yes you get TR2 and a couple of new toys with RRS2 but it's the same gearbox and engine (tweaked to get ~35 extra BHP). Of course for people with little or no financial constraints, this is not an issue but it is for me.

Having recently got stuck in snow and ice going up a steep ramp and using the low range gearbox to compensate for my inexperience to get out of it, I know I wouldn't be happy with a basic RRS2 HSE. Standard RRS2 HSE doesn't have the dynamic mode either (as far as I know), which I would find hard to live without after driving mine "like a saloon" on narrow, twisty mountain roads and tackling hairpin turns at a decent speed for a week.

Having said that, I really don't know what my next car will be if not an RRS2. Either compromise on toys AND spend extra ££££ for a basic HSE/HSE Dynamic or compromise on toys and save ££££ by moving to a Q7. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

I wonder how long it is before someone comes up with a Meduza type front end to make the old Sport look like the latest version.
Guess Peachy will be the first to have a go Bow down Thumbs Up In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
Gone - A couple of RRS, A couple of Disco's. However thinking of another Sport.
