Transporting a Range Rover Sport - Suspension Height

Good Morning all,

A quick question if anyone would know, if you are using a transport company to deliver a Range Rover Sport is it okay to deliver/travel with it in the normal suspension height or will they place it in access mode?

It's not on the back of a one car transporter, it's a full sized lorry that holds a number of cars (not sure if this makes a difference)

Or will the transport driver just load it on as is and leave it, which would be normal height.

Thanks in advance.

It is recommended to transport a RRS in access mode, to save the self levelling suspension trying to level itself throughout the journey. Likewise when you take your RRS on a ferry. Thumbs Up

Ady,

Much appreciated.

Thank You.

And do you think a transport driver will know this, or do you imagine he will have to be informed?

Thanks

Assume nothing. Always advise. He probably doesn't even know how to put it in access mode. Whistle Make sure he locks it in access mode too. Just hold the button down for a few seconds. Thumbs Up

Just a small aside, I wonder how the motion sensor in the anti theft system will cope with the vehicle being put on a trailer? Will it keep triggering the indicators and horn every time the trailer bounces? It is supposed to be able to detect if the car is being lifted by an overhead crane/ hoist! The car may have to be transported unlocked 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

To shut the suspension off completely, it would ideally be placed in Build Mode with a diagnostic tool. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

The cars are transported in build mode from the factory. A casual user should select access height. I believe there is an override button for the alarm system in order to disable the tilt sensor. Regards etc.,

Hi,

Should select Access mode, but would the general casual transport driver know this, or as previously mentioned know how?

As I understand it 1 press on lock should be safe for transport - this is recommended for ferries etc

2 presses would arm tilt sensor, deadlocks and internal sensors so not recommended in this situation

I would use access mode too Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

It's the other way around isn't it? 1 press on lock is normal alarm, (tilt, motion sensor), 2 presses, DISABLES the motion sensor etc and just locks the doors.

Quote:
TILT SENSOR

When the alarm is armed and the vehicle is double locked, the tilt sensor detects any change in the vehicle's angle to the ground. A significant change in the vehicle's angle activates the alarm.

Quote:
Press the lock button on the smart key twice within 3 seconds to double lock the vehicle and arm the full alarm system. The hazard warning lights flash twice to confirm and a double lock tone sounds.

Double locking secures the vehicle and prevents the doors from being opened from inside or outside of the vehicle. The doors cannot be unlocked or opened from inside the vehicle when double locked.

This provides extra security if the vehicle is left unattended. The vehicle cannot be opened by breaking a window and operating the door locks from inside. Additionally, double locking also arms the full alarm system.

SUPERLOCKING

Superlocking is activated by one press of the lock button on the remote control.

If passengers or animals are to be left in the vehicle, windows and/or sunroof are left open, or the vehicle is on a moving platform, e.g. a ferry, lock the vehicle by pressing the lock button twice within three seconds, This disables the superlocking, tilt sensing and interior space protection.

From page 27 of my RRS owners handbook.

Seems strange that they changed this for different models as clearly you quoted from a manual as well. And it's more convenient having all the alarm functions off one press on the remote so why would they set it to two presses?

It does seem strange - every LR, Mini and MG I've owned was 2 presses to double lock and arm alarm fully Confused Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW
