Frozen Electric Mirrors = Stopped Working!

Evening!

Drivers side mirror has stopped folding in after some extreme frost/cold. I pressed to fold the mirrors in after a long journey, expecting them not to be frozen... but they were. Motors whirred away and they didnt go back in... Censored I thought.

Anyway, warmer today (at least 1oC) so tried when I got home from work. Passenger side folds in, Drivers doesnt. The motor is still working as I can hear it, but its not "gripping" the mirror.

Anyone advise me on how to resolve this issue? Had a search but no-one seems to have posted about this one.

Cheers! 2006 HSE for Sale - £7,499 (Manchester)

Try operating mirrors with gentle hand help at same time. It is only a small plastic cog so hopefully hasn't stripped teeth. Big Cry

Yeah, tried that. You can feel that its trying to grip, but doesn't, so I'm presuming the teeth have worn.

Dont suppose anyone knows the item code for said part.... And how I go about stripping the mirror? 2006 HSE for Sale - £7,499 (Manchester)

You can get go the screws behind the tweeter, I can't remember if you need to take door panel off to get to the electrical plug but I'm sure one of our grown ups will be along shortly to remind us. Have no idea what the part number is but there are bound to be on eBay. Disco and Sport mirrors are the same 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

It is easier to remove the door panel as you will not be able to remove the tweeter speaker assembly With out breaking the plastic lugs.it is only held on with 2 plastic lugs and 2 very thin plastic legs which are housed behind the door card. To remove the screws you will be better to remove the door card. Once this has been done you can remove the mirror. The mirror can actually be stripped down easily once you remove the mirror housing cover ( outer colour coded part ) you will see the electric motor wiring etc. Thumbs Up

You could try squirting WD40 in the general direction of the mechanism before stripping it down. Worked for me when I had a Disco 4 with one mirror not opening.

It's because it's milder...the slight lubrication will be more fluidic.

If it's a 55 plate it will have to be done manually via pressing the mirror adjuster down when it's set in the middle position.

Mmmm.... If it's a HSE it should have. It may be a fuse blown.
Best way to tell is try pushing them in manually. Do they manually move easily? RRS HSE with a few extras & a
