Even frpm the photographs I can tell things are not good

It's going to take ages to peel all the dots off again.............  RRS 4.2 S/C. Zermatt. Tints. Stormers. 150+ paint defects, wonkey bonnet, scratches, detached doorseal. suspension faults. To sum it up, a �60k pile of cr4p!

Is this comparable to LR's idea of design in what the term " The floating Roof"

Bobs, having seen the pics, had a thought. Might be worth commissioning an independant "expert report" on the paintwork. Has that done for a court case against a botched Air Con fitment many moons ago on a Passat, just having the report will give U major ammo. That is what a judge in a case will look at, it will be from an expert so LR dealer or HQ can not BS they way through it. Good luck anyway.

Right, latest update..................

Two guys came down from LR (although I didn't actually meet them) to see the car at the dealers. They thanked me for my time, and for pointing out the faults with the sticky dots (apparently, it was the talk of the dealership........I heard two of the girls saying that someone had stuck 155 dots on his car.........someone must have counted them!).

Apparently, the two LR guys found some faults that I'd missed (so why couldn't they find them before it left the factory?)

They admitted that the car was far below standard. They took photographs, and measured the thickness of the paint (it was up to spec). They said it was "dirt in the paint" that had caused most of the marks.

I'm told that LR want to make an "example" of the car (or something like that). They want to take it back to the factory (and take me round the paint processing plant etc.), and "prepare it" like they do the show cars. They want to polish out the pimples etc and completely replace the tailgate. They say that the car will be 110% when I get it back. They've invited me to the factory, and when they return it to me, they'll do a big "hand-over" at the factory, in a brightly lit room so that I can see that the car is perfect.

A year ago I would have jumped at the chance of going round the factory, but to be honest, now I don't really care. I just want the car that I paid for and to get on with my life again. I want to put all this behind me and enjoy the car. I don't want to send it back and have it messed about with.

I've thanked the service manager for his help, but told him that I still want to persue a replacement (I'm starting to feel awkward about this now).

He understands, and will speak to the DP tomorrow.

Again Bob, I know exactly how you feel. Porsche offered me a trip to their HQ in Reading to see the paint facilities, have the paint probs sorted, and inspect them in their viewing booth.

It didnt appeal to me either - who wants to see their new £50k car in a paintshop !?! Stick to your guns and seek a replacement. At least LR have now acknowledged how bad the car is.

Make me think "what is the dirt in the paint"? If it is iron based (swarf from a badly fitted part in the paint manufacturers) that will start rusting given half a chance. Stick to your guns, even better upgrade to a D3!
