Hello guys.

Whilst my partner was taking the car out the parking brake stuck on. She looked in the manual and it stated you could drive off and it would release automatically. She never pulled the cord. The park brake released but now I cannot put on. Yellow (Steady) and red flashing light park indicators up. Switch now does nothing. I connected to my diagnostic machine and code U200201 appears. This is related to the switch by all accounts. I ordered and replaced the switch. Still the same and code cannot reset. I have even tried the brake switch also. No issue. I'm beginning to think it's the actuator but no noises have been heard nor issues previous. The shoes were inspected and cleaned only a few months ago and were in good condition. Any ideas would be great before the complete actuator change. Would the actuator failure not be under a different code?

If the EPB fails in the "on" (brakes applied) position and then you try to drive it can cause damage to the system. I'd check the EPB shoes to make sure they haven't been damaged.

If the shoes etc. are ok, then it might be worth using the EPB emergency release and then trying to apply the EPB. This forces the EPB module to go through a latching routine. A second selection of the EPB should then apply the brakes. If that doesn't work then you might be in to new module territory. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I thought the emergency activation is a sure way to require the actuator to be stripped. Re-set.
Will it re-set on its own?

Broken wire at the rear of the car, common issue

Depends whether you want to take the loom apart to find the problem, or replace the 4 wires complete from the switch to module

Do you need to buy complete actuator and wires or just buy a cable?

Presume can be seen on a ramp? Just replace the wire?

Nothing to do with the actuator.

I normally make up a new loom, and overlay the wiring between the switch and the module

Can a regular garage undertake the loom renewal. THis wiring loom travels from the switch (Centre Console) to the module (Aft Left Side, Wheel Arch)? Any help would be great. Is it a big job? Long run? How many hours?

Just been informed this could be caused bya burnt out relay in rear of car? Any idea's?

To be honest Im not 100% how to do. I changed the switch, I have not checked wiring to module from switch. Is it easy?

How is the access?

Put the car in off-road mode, remove key, wait for car to go to sleep. Go to passenger side, rear wheel. At about 2 o'clock on the wheel just behind it is a piece of plastic. Pull it down and behind it is 2 loom connectors. Using a torch to see pull and tug lightly on each wire until you find one that comes away in your hand. Or unplug the connectors and inspect the pins. 90% it's 1 or 2 wires very rarley the plug. not to sure but it's usually the first plug and it's the red, the black, and green or yellow. Iirc.
