Hi mate, read your post a few minutes back. Whilst looking for a completely different issue (brake light switch how to), I noticed someone replying to that they had a Christmas tree issue related to that. Apparently a £15 fix. |

Thanks again for the help James fitted the new switch and all is well no more lights and everything working, I ended up ordering a genuine part £22 off ebay Im sure the others on offer will be fine as well. Also I had a look inside the old switch and sure enough signs of arcing inside as photo attached.

Strangely the lights returned today during normal driving? same symptoms as before however they have gone off again, any ideas what might cause the lights to come on and go off intermittently? also found out there is a second brake light switch for the cruise control any ideas where that is? cheers |

Sounds like a weak battery, if not then has to be the alternator.

It's usually the cruise control switch which causes the HDC fault light to come on. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

Cheers again for the replys, so where is the cruise switch? Is it on the steering wheel its self? I did notice the cruise didn't work a couple of times coming up from Glasgow a couple of weeks back |

The cruise switch is in the brake pedal switch. The switch has two operations- the initial movement disengages the cruise, then the switch illuminates the brake lights. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
