My local independent is carrying out the 7 year service on my 2007 TDV8 and has run into a problem getting the nut off the viscous fan to get at the two ancillary belts that require changing. He tells me that it is seized solid, and is proving stubborn to remove. He does not want to exert too much pressure as it could snap off resulting in having to buy a whole new fan unit as the nut cannot be bought separately. He has been quoted over £350 for a replacement fan unit and there appears to be non in stock anywhere?

Is it possible to get the nut from another supplier?

Has anyone got any advice or has run into this problem before?

Is it possible to source a second hand fan assembly as a last resort?

They have managed to get the nut off after a struggle.

I have asked them to replace both belt tensioner's while they are at it, one of them was a little noisy so it makes sense to change them out while they have access.
