alarm and central locking query

Hi, I have a query re alarm and locking

ive noticed that when I lock the car (2010rrs) with the key fob the alarm sets and all appears normal. However the doors dont lock properly. If I pull the door handle, it opens and the alarm goes off.

It only recently started this. Is there an easy fix?

Thanks

Is your model a keyless ignition?

Yes. It is usually a faulty door latch. The electric motors driving the lock/unlock become weak and don't complete the locking action.
Remedy is to change the latch which is a complete module costing about £80 and an hour to fit. Quite easy DIY and if you search this site and the Disco3 site you'll find detailed instructions with pictures. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Once you have locked your door, take the key fob out of range approx 1m +. Leave the key fob out of range and then try the door again. I suspect the door is opening because the fob is still in range. Which it is designed to do. Wink

Had my drivers door latch changed today.

I would lock the car using the remote, pull the drivers door handle and the door would open, sounding the alarm.

The small black tab under the door opening lever was sticking out proud a bit when all the others were flush to the door.

If I pushed it in when I got out of the car, it would lock fine but I just got it changed. £80 for the part + 1 hour labour and vat to sort it out.

Hopefully all sorted now. 2006 RRS SC Bonatti Grey (the 55th car/van I have owned)

The lock that has failed will be on the door that you can still open by pulling the external handle after the central locking activated and alarm set. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Found it. The front passenger wasn't locking sprayed some wd40 in it and seemed to work....that was in the drive anyway went out today, parked up and yeah...It wouldn't lock

After a minute or two of trying though managed to work out a temp fix....here's what I did
Before switching off lower window on offending door
Manually lock offending door by leaning through and flicking the switch
Using remote press once to lock remaining doors and boot
Then press again holding button to shut said window

TOP TIP: avoid the inconvenience of door latch repairs by exiting your RRS through open windows thus reducing wear on the mechanisms. I never saw the Duke brothers having to fix theirs, so it's tried and tested. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso

After spending a few nights wondering how to resolve this I tried your guidance and it worked great. A temporary fix of course as the actuator has clearly failed but at least I can go to sleep at night now. Many thanks.
