I have replaced a couple of ecu's for the air system on D3's including my own and the second hand ecu's where from RRS's . I have only had to recalibrate two of them as some ecu's seem less tolerant to how far out the reading's are for the four corners.

Hi Guys

This fault code “control module”, does not necessarily mean that the control module is defective. If the system is not in customer mode (tight tolerance for example), this fault will register. Before replacing the ECU, we suggest proceeding with the following:

-Make sure the system is not in tight tolerance mode
-Re-flash the ECU with the latest available firmware. This one may contain additional internal diagnostic procedures which may register a fault that will help you move further.

When replacing the suspension ECU, sensors or any other related parts, it is imperative to recalibrate the height sensors. This will ensure optimal performance of the system, drivability and comfort. It will also prevent unnecessary stress on other suspension parts that will try to compensate (sway bar for example) for the bad calibration. The system cannot detect a bad calibration unless it is so bad that it cannot regulate the vehicle height within a respectable limit (a flat and leveled surface is pretty much nonexistent in real world conditions). In this case, you will get the “cross articulation” fault code.

Hi Dave

When a manufacturer does a software revision for an ECU, it can add new fault codes and diagnostic procedures related to issues that have been reported in the field. If your issue is related to one of these new additions, it will register a fault and help you find the problem. It may not help in your case but it's simply a logical way to proceed. Many ECU’s are replaced while they are not defective because of an incorrect diagnostic in the beginning, following these rules will help avoid this.

The IIDTool and a few other diagnostic tools will allow you to re-flash or recalibrate the suspension ECU. Also there are guys like Mike and Flack that can do it for you if you are close to them. If in the end it is confirmed that the ECU is defective, you will need to proceed with a calibration and re-flashing if the replacement ECU is new. If it is used, it may only need a sensor calibration if the correct firmware is already installed.

Hi problem for me is I live in Spain and not involved with any people out her in the RRS scene I hardly speak the lingo also don't want to take it to the stealers as everything in mañana here even the simply things in life so could get very long and expensive , so was going to tackle as much of it myself I have a good knowledge of electronics and computers so really hoping I may be able to gain the knowledge from forums and sound advice from fellow members just need my own IId tool I think so I can progress , and at the moment it doesn't seem to affecting anything except the warning light , im wondering if the car had never had use of the ride height adjustments before it only had 29,000 on a 2006 might have been a school run bus but when I got it I was checking different controls out and was using the access height so wondering if I have something stuck that had not been used before possible a sensor etc. .... any help from any member would be appreciated 2006 Hst 4.2 Supercharged , Angel eyes , 2010 rear led lights , indicator / courtesy wing mirror leds, Khan 21" Diamond edition split rims, full spec (running LPG £0.60 per ltr)

Ok so the IID Tool is here just read the faults tried to clear them but they are permanent here is the read out

Ok I been told that these faults are nothing to do with the amber suspension light leaning when cornering faults so here is a full read out of all ecu's im lost now

Update the fault which initially thought to be the suspension is actually the ARC module not the suspension .
after inspection there was water damage on the pcb this would back up the intermitting fault state at the beginning also sign s of water around this area , this module is located drivers side kick panel the air suspension ecu is above it , so don't get confused , will update when new ecu arrives , this ecu is not in the v2 firmware for the IIDTool but I believe it will be released soon , also a big thank to GAP for there assistance as I was hitting a brick wall without them .
