Out of 9 months of ownership, my sport has been in the shop over 2 months for this very exact issue. Yesterday when I was just slowly driving with my foot on the brake down a steep hill, the steering column began to shake violently, almost feeling like the transmission had blown. i slowed down, got to the bottom of the hill and all was fine. The vibration during hard acceleration is terrible, as is going up & down hills at speeds above 40mph or so.
I love this car, don't get me wrong, but I have had enough. LRNA told me that they can't do anything more so I am now going to have the attorney handle getting another one because I really do love everything else about this car, it's just a bummer mine isn't perfect.

I'm not intending to be rude about your instruction book reading capablities but you are not driving with the HDC switched on by any chance are you? It should be off until needed. That can cause some very odd vibrations when it operates. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Tim, I don't take that as being rude at all and the answer is no, of course the HDC was off and not engaging. Even if it was, hdc would not be coming on at 70mph on the freeway. I use the HDC quite a bit when i am on the steep stuff and this was not one of those times. Yes I know it's the yellow button below the TR as well.
It was a total different shudder as I know someone who doesn't know what the HDC sounds like might sh@t their pants. I blew the transmission on my previous SUV and it felt & sounded more like that, a far cry from HDC in my opinion.

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black

update on the steering/ low speed knocking chaps - my motor has gone into the shop again today for some new parts to be fitted.. after they had a LR factory technician out to it last week and he drove it with some natty listening device plugged into it, they reckon its the off-side suspension strut or something related to that - top bush, bottom bush etc, so they're replacing everything. A new steering rack last week made no difference..

hopefully have it back tomorrow and I'll update.

Keep us all posted Noddy - maybe you could come and drive mine and see if it is the same sensation with the steering that I am experiencing Confused If so would help me persuade trinity to do something about it . This is of course assuming yours does get sorted Rolling Eyes

thanks

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black

chaps..

let's get this one back on track.. (sorry)

had the entire front nearside suspension changed on Monday to try to solve this knocking (air susp unit, strut, damper, spring). No joy.

So glad I'm not paying for this work, they must have spent thousands on my car in the last month to not cure a small knocking noise. They now want to send my motor back to the factory on the request of the technical dept there.. GRRRR!
