From a dealer about £500 they drain the old oil out then fill with a oil flush drive it around for about 30 minutes, then drain it again, then fill with new gearbox oil, |

There are companies out there who offer a similar service for a heap less than dealer costs.

its about £130 for oil and the new pan for the gearbox which includes the filter, my dealer (Riders, now Carrs of truro) did it as part of the service and only charged for the parts |

apparently there is a mod now that means the whole pan doesnt have to be changed(apparently filter was integral with it), mod fits new pan and seperate filter |

sport only came out in 2005..and if mod was 10 years old then why wasnt it then fitted to all cars after it was introduced |

because that very same gearbox was already introduced in BMWs Jaguars etc more than 10 years ago

I just converted to the steel pan. I did it myself (TDV8 2007). I bought the pan on ebay ( make sure you get one with a sump plug). Removal of the plastic sump was a crap job. You're meant to cut the plastic pipe that goes up into the gearbox so that you don't have to lift the engine/gearbox an inch. But it's almost impossible to get a saw in there and you can't see what you're doing. I finally identified more or less where the pipe was with a ruler, marked it on the bottom of the sump and used a 40mm hole cutter, straight through the bottom of the sump, filter and surrounding plastic of the pipe. The pipe was then disconnected and the sump came out.
