Parts cost me only around £180 inc. delivery. Antenna & receiver from Yeovil LR as per rigsby's post and remote from eBay as recommended by Nick @ Yeovil. That's all I'm spending hopefully as I will be able to enable the options myself.

Cheers fkarim - might give Yeovil a call and get parts too at that price Bow down

I have seen remotes for fraction of lr price on ebay but thought they still need dealer activation Confused

I get the impression from bell autos website there is a mobile phone method available and wonder if anyone has tried this - might suit me more - correction just looked and no longer on website Sad Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

You have to mention the forum to get these discounted prices. Nick refused to sell me the remote saying if I found what these sell for on eBay I would be upset and just gave me the part number instead Bow down Very honest as I bought the remote for £20 and his quoted price after discount was over 4x that Shocked

Enabling should be free as I treated myself to an IIDTool for other features (e.g. TTM for alignment).

Expensive browsing this forum Evil or Very Mad

Update: Just received the remote (ordered yesterday afternoon) and it looks 100% OEM to me Thumbs Up

Hi Just seen this

The important difference between the remote and timed climate is basically the remote additional hardware. Which is a plug (somewhere depending on the factory) around by the rear inspection hatch in the book and then wiring in the remote either where it says or somewhere else.

All they did (in simple terms, because I heard there might have been some different parts) was to enable it on the 2013 black models - just like anyone would do on any model - specifically the 2012 on. Using autologic there are 3 options in one place to turn it on (or off) as listed - I cant recall the names exactly because im not in front of it, but its timed climate and timed climate+remote then you pair the remote unit to the ECU you will have fitted and away you go. Mike

Jas, when I bought my first Sport I naively thought that was it. What did I know Big Cry

I don't have the part numbers for antenna and receiver but other people have posted these on the forum if you search. Alternatively I can give you the numbers on Monday when I expect to receive mine.

Remote part number is LR027493 if you're interested.

Thanks Mike. The terminology might be slightly different in IIDTool but hopefully I should be able to work it out. Disco3 members have done it.

I was quoted £150 by a dealer to add remote to my B.Ed (timed already fitted) then on the day they said £500 - needless to say I decided to forget about it - lot of money for simple added feature Big Cry

According to brochure remote was £320 option on B.Ed Confused

Muddy the kit you have, first isn't needed (do you really want to call the car to start up), but I don't think is compatible given the systems on the car are more integrated. I know BAS does one for the earlier cars, but I think that's because they are different and more simple Mike

Sorry Mike can you clarify your comment about kit I have first isn't needed as I am confused Embarassed

My thoughts were that being able to text or call rrs to switch on heater would suit my lifestyle as most of time in garage but when shopping or dining out I could switch on as we were finishing even if not in range. If it's not compatible then I will have to rethink it Confused Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

You cant text your car to turn the heating on. I'm reasonably sure, unlike the early 2010 ones (where Pete did a kit), you cant fit a GSM unit on the later cars, due to their integration.

What I was saying - its 1 connector and 1 box to have the remote FBH on your car, its really that simple.

To be honest, im not fully sure why anyone would need to text the car to tell it to warm up (probably for it to have an error anyway) Mike

Useful if the car is out of range of park heating remote but somewhere with GSM reception (i.e. not several levels down in an underground car park but then it will be shielded from the weather anyway). Personally I'd be content with just remote key fob operation especially as it is all OEM.

Cheers Mike Thumbs Up

Phone would suit me as I never know when swmbo will finish shopping but if not an option I will rethink the remote Sad

My understanding is dealer quoted £150 thinking B.Ed already had antenna and receiver so that was to cover remote and activation - the extra £350 was supply and installation of the bits they discovered weren't there Rolling Eyes Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW
