Help please "Engine Fault Special Programmes not availa

Good Morning to All

First point of call always this forum, needed some help please.

O6 RRS Sport the wifey had problems last week driving it told me the Engine Fault message was showing, after a few attempts all was ok.

I did not think much to it until this morning, turned the key and POP message Engine Fault followed by "special programmes not available"

Everything works fine as the engine runs etc but no acceleration as if to say it is stuck in first gear, so had to reverse it up the street parked it up and came to work.

Worried what the issue is going to be but more importantly cost, could anyone please advise or help please could it be the battery ? Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

Has it only done short trip for a while? - check your battery voltage.

Since it only takes a few minutes you could try the old favourite the 'hard reset'.

If that fails you may have stuck EGR.

It needs the fault codes reading, you don't say which engine but would suspect EGR valves or turbo 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

Just a quick update, had the friendly AA come out today.

Read codes no fault codes to report, trying to read his writing it says something on the lines of "remove and cleaned connections on throttle """"""""" and throttle body. Then a call saying its working fine.

The Mrs gets home and tries same message, i thought i would give it a go when i returned home tried first time no joy tried again no messages and everything all fine again.

Now im concerened whats going on any ideas ?? Big Cry Big Cry

It might be the Turbo actuator rod stuck that needs freeing off, it's a known fault. Have you also had your alternator checked out.?.

Flack Thumbs Up

Hi Flack

Thank you for this, what you suggested would this be the cause of "engine fault message" along with special programmes not available message ?

I will maybe have to get the AA out and get them to check the alternator.

Will advise

Thank you again for your time much appreciated

Mine did exactly the same as the OP's today (while giving it some wellie). I turned it off and on again and it was fine after. So something is on the way out.

What do we do with the turbo actuator rod, just dowse it in WD40? I may as well start there.
