maybe so, but your insurance company (iirc yourself also at a cost) can look to see who insures the car and put in a claim for the repair, if the number plate is caught

the problem i see in having the motion/g sensor on is that in most cases the car park will be on private ground so there's not much the police can do if any damage is caused to your vehicle whether caught on camera or not.

Someone hit the back of my motor ( a motorhome not RRS) when getting diesel at local supermarket but luckily a local taxi driver took his number plate number as he left the garage without stopping. Contacted the police and as you said they were not very interested but given the details we had they tracked down the Censored and helped the insurance company sort out the claim. 2009 RRS TDV6 2.7 HSE Santorini Black

I have both the 400 and the 500 blackvue.

The 400 is much slimmer and neater, compared to its fatter wifi brother! MY10 HSE 3.0 TDV6 : Santorini Black : Ebony Interior w/Anigre wood : Privacy Glass (total) : Sunroof : Sidesteps : Hybrid TV : Detachable Tow Kit : Spare Wheel Cover : 22" Dished Supersports

If you have a smartphone, then chances are you could use that.

I use my Galaxy S2, with Samsung car mount (which has a hole that the camera can see through.) You can also get black box apps that use GPS data to show where you are on a map, and the speed you were doing at the time.

However, if you'd like a dedicated dashcam with reasonable price, take a look at: http://www.szswill.com

Perhaps you could try a couple of Mini 0803 cameras?

These little cameras are inexpensive at about £90 each and can easily be removed from the windscreen mount. To avoid monopolising the power outlets you would have to use a hard wiring kit (available direct from China for less than a fiver) the power only needs to be supplied to the windscreen mount so no plugs to remove when you take out the camera.

You would need to buy windscreen mounts for each vehicle. There are two versions without/with GPS priced at about £5 and £15 respectively. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

I've installed the front camera (not got to hooking the rear one up yet) of a MIWitness system to both my RRS and my Fiancées Golf.. both seem to work pretty well, and with the WiFi module and the likes of Transmit app for my iPhone, I can transfer video files from the camera to either my unix servers via SCP, or to my cloud servers via owncloud / webdav etc... although doing that for many files will take a while.

Here's an example of one snippet I captured of someone who obviously isn't quite sure what those shiny reflective things both inside and hanging off the corner of the doors are for:

Any comments on Blackvue and DAB radios? Most people seemed to think it was the best cam, but never mentioned you can't use the radio with them. Especially if you have a DAB radio....completely incompatible....n it also Censored up FM but not as bad. Very disappointed n annoyed that no where mentioned at all this incompatibility.

any way to sort this mess?

thanks

Slightly confused here are you saying if you have your Blackvue Camera operating your radio won't work. As I have Blackvue front and rear cameras fitted and they certainly don't interfere with radio reception be it DAB or FM in fact the the Blackvue Audio actually records what is playing on the radio on to the SD card.

Cheers
Col
