Can someone tell me, when changing wheel size say 20" to 19" Is it just a case of swapping them over and letting the suspension sort it???

So long as the tyre size is correct the outside diameter will be the same and there will be nothing to sort out. ---------------------------

Could someone please tell me if that also applies to changing 22" to 20" wheels on a 2007 TDV8 3.6? I have been reading that 22" heels can cause problems so thought the first thing I should do is to swap them. 20" might be a bit more comfy also.

There is a lot of expereince on this forum so I am hoping that someone can help us out with this info.

Hi guys, we produce and fit 22" wheels to RR marques, and there is no issue other than choosing the correct tyre size and keeping as close as poss to the correct rolling radius for the car.

With any car, the the bigger you go wheels wise, the harder the ride. With RR models however, the good suspension makes 22" still a comfy ride.

You will def need to avoid deep potholes with 22"s as the weight of the car coupled with lower tyre profile can cause any wheel to crack - regardless of how well made. In USA, they often fit 24"s to RR's which is a little extreme by our standards, but the roads are not ravaged by ice and snow and breaking up every year like ours!

To answer the question, bigger wheel means smaller tyre, but as the overall height is the same, the car is fine. The image below explains what we mean with a little help from Photoshop...

The red line is the overall height being the same for both wheels when fitted with correct tyre.
The white lines show the diff between the tyre ratio on an 18" compared to fitted with 22"

Based on the guys I know I'm not really convinced that "they often fit 24s..." apart from the few idiots with 'pimped rides' and chrome spinners

Have you been to the States ? - their roads are pretty much like ours, and, as for the weather, you must be thinking of the southern states because most states from Kentucky north get plenty of snow each year.

Lol - Yes was thinking from experience of our visits to the sunny West Coast & Las Vegas Sema i guess.
Maybe I should have been more geographically specific.

We have a bespoke wheel maker in LA that has made one-off sets for us. We had a commission for a set of our wheels in 24" for a client - not to everyone's taste agreed
